    Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy

    Job summary:

    The successful candidate will be reporting to the Dean, School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Essential to this role is the desire of the successful applicant to primarily focus on educating Bachelor of Pharmacy Students, engaging in research activities, and providing clinical expertise to enhance the overall learning experience and advance the field of pharmacy, as well as contribute to world-class research that improves practice while delivering a service to the university and the community..

    Key Responsibilities/Tasks/Duties:

    The Clinical Pharmacy Assistant Professor will be a key faculty member involved in teaching, research, and clinical responsibilities. The primary focus is on educating pharmacy students, engaging in research activities, and providing clinical expertise to enhance the overall learning experience and advance the field of pharmacy:

    • Teach and mentor Pharmacy students at clinical sites to ensure hands-on experience and knowledge application.
    • Precept students in the skills laboratory, including Physical Assessment, to enhance their clinical competency.
    • Coordinate and develop innovative advanced Pharmacy programs to keep the curriculum cutting-edge.
    • Provide Medication Therapy Management services at clinical sites, supporting patient care and student learning.
    • Organize and facilitate inter-professional training to foster collaboration between healthcare professionals.
    • Serve as an advisor/mentor to assigned students, offering guidance on academic and career development.
    • Develop and prepare educational tools and materials to support effective teaching and student engagement.
    • Contribute to the planning and administration of the School of Pharmacy, including accreditation and curriculum development.
    • Participate in faculty and professional development opportunities to stay updated with industry trends and advancements.
    • Serve on committees and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure the overall success of students and program initiatives.

    Minimum Qualifications /Educational/Professional Experience

    • A Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacy.
    • Master of Pharmacy in Clinical Pharmacy
    • BPharm/ PharmD from an accredited university.
    • Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons board.
    • Fulfills Commission for University Education requirements for the position.
    • Demonstrable ability to engage in independent research, with an established record of scholarly publication.
    • Experience in supervising pharmacy students in clinical settings
    • Demonstrable success in the supervision of postgraduate students.
    • Demonstrable abilities to work effectively as an interdisciplinary and collegial team member, well developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide leadership and take the initiative.
