    Marshall Weinberg Global Legal Fellow

    Primary Responsibilities: 

    The Fellow for this role will be assigned litigation and Advocacy work, by:

    •  Conducting legal and policy research and analysis on international and regional human rights law, as well as comparative national-level law;
    •  Assisting in the development and drafting of pleadings, fact sheets, articles, and other advocacy documents positioning reproductive rights as fundamental human rights;
    •  Supporting the Center's capacity building initiatives, designed to increase the use of the law to promote reproductive rights by local partners across the globe;
    •  Researching and drafting presentations and other materials to strengthen the capacity of partners and other stakeholders to advance reproductive rights;
    •  Supporting the identification, documentation and application of best practices in litigation initiatives;
    •  Researching and monitoring developments and trends in Litigation and Advocacy  initiatives and methodologies and supporting development of resources;
    •  Supporting the Africa program in maintaining partnerships with NGOs, and other stakeholders;
    •  Working closely with the Legal Adviser  to digest and disseminate reproductive rights updates for advocates and partners in the region;
    •  Assisting with the planning, logistics and implementation of online and offline litigation and advocacy capacity building events;
    •  Supporting the operational activities of the litigation team , as needed, including maintaining filing systems;
    •  Institutional responsibilities such as monthly programmatic update, monitoring and evaluation, tracking lobbying and press mentions;
    •  Using editing skills to assist with blue booking and fact-checking of reports, petitions, shadow letters, and other documents, as needed; and
    •  Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Candidates with 2-3 years' work experience, with a degree in law and knowledge of international and regional human rights and women's rights and of reproductive rights or women's health are eligible to apply.
    • The candidate should be capable of complex legal analytical work and possess excellent writing, editing, research and oral advocacy skills.

    Fluency in French is preferred.
