    Product Owner (Mini Apps)

    Roles and Responsibilities

    •     Develop and execute product roadmap for Mini Program Service as part of the wider M-PESA Super App Strategy; ensuring value is realized for both Safaricom and Mini programs partners.
    •     Manage end-to-end process as a product owner of Mini Program service; design features’ wireframes, provide brief to external vendors and business partners, manage product priorities, ensure product timeline; work with all related business units within the company to ensure products are delivered according to the product roadmap
    •     Establish industry standards and provide clear guidelines for the development and publication of Mini Programs.
    •     Providing client-facing documentation and contributing to Product Marketing collateral for newly published mini-programs as and when needed.
    •     Identify and support the improvement of the platform architecture to support current and future initiatives. Evaluate and balance new system requirements, considering technological trade-offs and the impact of technical debt.
    •     Apply experience of DevOps best practices to enable highly available, reliable, and secure systems and processes.
    •     Define and track product strategy, objectives, outcomes, and KPIs as part of the Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR); achieve set direct KPIs on user growth and user engagement and indirect KPIs on revenue and revenue growth.
    •     Work closely with various stakeholders in the business to gain a deep understanding of customer experience; market insights and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience, and drive growth.
    •     Contribute to the development of commercial models and pricing strategies targeted at growing revenue and user lifetime value, proposing an overall budget to accomplish goals, given the resources and timelines.
    •     Play an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals.
    •     Create, prioritize, and maintain a product backlog in accordance with the tribe mission ensuring value maximization and alignment to the tribe mission.
    •     Define skills and capabilities required for proper operation of new squads together with Tribe Lead, Tribe Tech Lead and Chapter Leads.
    •     Serve as the product ambassador internally and externally, sharing knowledge and answering questions related to the product

    Qualifications

    •     Bsc. in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred with experience in managing the delivery of digital products.
    •     2+ years’ experience in the FinTech space, ideally in business development & account management.
    •     Knowledge of principles of DevOps.
    •     Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
    •     Proven track record leading complex strategic and operational initiatives, working through technical, operational, legal/policy, and business issues within the FinTech and/or Financial Services industry.
    •     Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously; from start to finish; of a 3 – 12-month duration; which have an impact across a company, on customers, and the revenue generation capability of the organization
    •     Software Quality Assurance and testing skills and experience.
    •     Understanding of Agile methodologies and a role model of the agile mindset and principles
    •     Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    •     Strong communication skills, written and verbal coupled with good listening and critical reasoning skills.
    •     Prior track record of project managing Mini-Program delivery highly desirable.
