As a key and senior role in the Advocacy, Campaign, Communications and Media as well as Humanitarian Team, the regional Humanitarian Advocacy and Policy Manager role is responsible for leading on humanitarian, advocacy and policy work, as well as for developing and producing key trends and situation analysis’ products, reports and updates, aimed at enabling and supporting our overall humanitarian advocacy and the Humanitarian programming and emergency response delivery across the ESA region.
The role holder will collaborate effectively with support and program functions in ensuring that up-to-date information is communicated, shared and used at all segments of the humanitarian programming cycle in the region and work closely with the regional Humanitarian Info Comms Manager. S/he is responsible for monitoring key trends and context analyses as well as transforming large sets of data and information so that they can be coherently summarized written pieces, dashboards, and other various forms of visualization that will feed better-informed response strategies and programming with key advocacy outcomes. In addition, the role will support response-related special projects, which include media visits, report publications, milestone celebrations, partner liaisons and representation, as needed.
The post-holder will work as part of the ACCM team in the regional office, where and when needed will be seconded to and/or will work closely with the Emergency Response team(s) in any Country Office to produce high-quality analyses, advocacy and policy products, summaries, reports, dashboards, and other related materials. The post holder will also lead on managing inputs and outputs for the humanitarian information and communication manager and media managers both at the regional and country office levels as appropriate.
The role holder will keep up to date with developments on humanitarian issues in the region and beyond and the sector, conduct policy analysis, develop recommendations and articulate Save the Children’s positions. S/he will identify key issues, policy trends, report on key developments and analyse ramifications of policy changes to scope priorities for our advocacy work and develop advocacy strategies and actions.
This role requires significant knowledge of disaster risk management issues and experience working in advocacy and policy positions dealing with complex humanitarian and/or emergency settings, knowledge of the key donors for emergency responses, and the key international standards.
