    Senior Program Officer

    The Role:

    The Senior Program Officer will support the organization to secure sustainable resource that realize its strategy. The job holder will lead program and proposal development and design for high-value, competitive, complex funding opportunities. Together with the Program Development Unit Manager, the job holder will actively build and maintain donor relationship in support of acquisition at national and field level. The position will also support the creation and promotion of strategic alliances with donors, multilateral agencies, and other NGOs for purposes of resources mobilization.

    The job holder will coordinate with different stakeholder to ensure implementation team and other stakeholders are aware of and follow the donor requirement. S/he will ensure reports are submitted on time with quality. S/he will serve as the focal points for external engagement with Support Officers and donors. The job holder will supervise and build capacity of Program Officers to support resource mobilization effort.

    • Proposal Development and grant acquisition
    • External Engagement
    • Grant Implementation/ Management: Compliance and risk management
    • Knowledge transfer and management
    • Managing and capacity building Program Officers

    Essential:

    • A minimum of Bachelor degree in Development studies or related field; Master degree will be preferred.
    • Training in humanitarian standards is desirable with specific training in donor requirements e.g. BHA, GAC, ECHO, DANIDA and Europe Aid.
    • 5 years programming experience in a grant funded humanitarian or development program. Preferably with previous assignments in a fragile context.
    • Proven experience in networking with donors and partners to bring about funding opportunities.
    • Demonstrated ability to mobilize cross-functional proposal team (technical, operations, field, finance, M&E, Regional/HQ) with right staff at the right time to meet even the tightest deadlines. Can also effectively mobilize multi-partner proposal development teams. 
    • Demonstrate ability to establish and cultivate strong, collaborative relationships
    • Strong writing skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Strong proposal writing skills
    • Team player; the ability to mobilize and work as part of a diverse team to achieve the overall goal
