    Serjeant- AT-ARMS I

    Duties and responsibilities

    This position is responsible to the Chief Sergeant at Arms and duties and responsibilities will entail:

    • Security screening for persons entering the precincts, chamber and the gallery;
    • Maintaining safety and proper housekeeping in the chamber;
    • Safe custody of the mace;
    • Implementing Fire Prevention and other Safety Measures at the County Assembly precincts;
    • Routine inspection of the fire equipment;
    • Controlling admission of visitors and allocation of parking;
    • Implementing security drills;
    • Performing chamber and ceremonial duties as per the laid down guidelines;
    • Maintenance of decorum, law and order within the precincts of the County Assembly;
    • Monitoring CCTV cameras and ensure it is functional and well manned;
    • Maintaining members attendance registers;
    • Escalating to senior officers any emerging security issues; and
    • Preparing conference facilities and ensuring its security and coordinating with other parties to ensure the same when committee undertakes business outside the County Assembly.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

    • Served in the grade of Sergeant-At-Arms II for at least three (3) years OR in the disciplined forces in a rank not less than Inspector for a period of not less than five (5) years for direct appointment; OR
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management /Investigations, Criminology and Forensic studies or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution with at least 3 years work experience in security field;
    • Certificate in fire-fighting and first aid;
    • A valid certificate of good conduct;
    • A Paramilitary/Military Training qualifications; and
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    • Disaster Management (Emergency Skills)
    • Follow procedures and policies
