Purpose of job

The Solar Engineer is The Solar Engineer will be responsible for tasks related to the solar industry, solar power, solar systems, PV design, and electrical design. The role will involve designing and implementing solar projects, conducting feasibility studies, analyzing energy production, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Taking ownership of delivery of Solar PV projects in Solar PV sector, ranging from conceptual stage through detailed design and engineering works, management of project installation services during execution and flawless handover/commissioning.
• Developing technical solutions including designing solar PV layout for commercial and utility  projects , optimizing the size of  the plant, managing the assessment of associated infrastructure such as structural assessment, land assessment etc.
• Liaising with electrical engineers, BESS experts and planning consultant to ensure the successful delivery of the projects
• Liaising with suppliers and contractors to obtain the proposals and develop project costing
• Supporting the development of solar PV business plan
• Providing  technical input to proposals and bids
• Representing the organization in conferences and renewable energy events
• Training and guiding junior members of the team
• Supporting the development inhouse tools and templates
• Ensure compliance to Health, Safety and Environment policy and regulations in the execution of duties at all times

Requirements
Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
• Strong understanding of Solar Industry and Solar PV Power market in Kenya and East Africa
• Proven experience in Solar PV and/or renewable energy sector
• Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards in the solar industry
• Excellent renewable energy project management skills
• Excellent technical skills including familiarity with AutoCad and commercial solar PV design software such as PVsyst
• Demonstrable client focus
