    Tutorial Fellow Sign Language

    Purpose: To deliver high-quality instruction and interpretation for students in class and other settings, and contributing to the development and the advancement of Sign Language program in the University.

    Duties and Responsibilities: -

    • Teach and assess courses in Sign Language to undergraduate students;
    • Assist senior academic members of staff in assignments allocated by the chair of department; 
    • Assist in the development of teaching materials;
    • Organize and supervise educational activities for undergraduate students;
    • Attend and participate in seminars, workshops and conferences in relevant fields;
    • Attend and participate in the departmental meetings; 
    • Carry out any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time.

    Requirements for appointment: -

    • Hold Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Education (Special Needs Education-hearing impairment) or equivalents from a recognized institution;
    • Enrolment in a relevant doctorate degree programme;
    • Certificate in sign language interpretation;
    • Membership to the Kenya Sign Language Interpreters Association;
    • Demonstrable proficiency in computer applications.

    Job Specification: - 

    • This position will be contractual for two (2) years renewable once. 

    Candidates interested in the position are expected to fulfil requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya. In this regard, they must submit copies of the following: -

    • Certificate of good conduct from Director, Criminal Investigations (DCI)
    • Clearance certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
    • Tax Compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
    • Clearance from the Ethics & Anti – Corruption Commission (EACC)
    • Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau

    Method of Application

    TERMS OF SERVICE

    Employment for the above mentioned positions will be on permanent and pensionable terms except for Tutorial Fellow. The appointed candidates will be remunerated as per the Inter Public University Councils Consultative Forum(IPUCCF) and CBA 2017-2021 approved salary rates.
