    Head of Data

    About the Role

    SunCulture specializes in solar power irrigation systems and has various products that support customers' needs. The Head of Data will lead our data strategies in developing and commercializing life changing technology that solves the biggest daily challenges for the world's 570 million smallholder farming households.

    As the Head of Data, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company's success by harnessing the power of data. You will build and lead a talented team of professionals across business intelligence, data engineering, and data science functions, driving actionable insights and enabling informed decision-making at all levels of the organization. Your strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership will be instrumental in driving innovation, optimizing processes, and maximizing the value of our data assets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business objectives, driving innovation and competitive advantage.

    • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proven experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing data-related functions, preferably in a fast-paced technology startup environment.
    • Strong technical proficiency in data engineering, business intelligence, and data science, with hands-on experience in tools and technologies in the Azure and AWS data engineering stacks.

    Head of Engineering

    About the Role

The Head of Engineering will lead our product managers in developing and commercializing life changing technology that solves the biggest daily challenges for the world's 570 million smallholder farming households.

    As the Head of Engineering you will play a pivotal role in leading and scaling our engineering team to drive the development of both hardware and software products. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire engineering function, from strategic planning to execution, while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration..

    Key Responsibilities

    Leadership and Team Management:

    • Provide visionary leadership to the engineering team, setting clear goals and objectives aligned with the company's strategic vision.
    • Mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

    • Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact operations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level objectives (SLOs) for our technology infrastructure and applications, with a particular emphasis on observability metrics.

    • Strong knowledge of information security principles, standards, and best practices, with experience implementing security controls and managing security incidents.
    • Proficiency with observability tools and technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, and Splunk.

    • You will manage the roadmap: capture work from a wide range of inputs, understand and prioritise this work so your team is always working on the most impactful projects
    • You’ll deeply understand the problems that you’re tackling through research and regular interaction with customers, partners and colleagues; define and frame those problems for the team
    • You will collaborate with your team in thinking big, to imagine solutions that solve these problems
    • You’ll scope these solutions to their smallest coherent state to ship to users as early as you can
    • You’ll constantly evaluate if your solutions have solved the problem through quantitative and qualitative measures, both in MVPs and after full release
