    Website Officer

    • Performance monitoring and optimization: Create a measurement framework to track the performance of websites, web pages and campaigns and oversee monitoring and reporting on the performance.
    • Monitor website performance metrics such as traffic, engagement and conversion rates using analytics tools.
    • Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, opportunities to enhance user experience, increase traffic and drive business outcomes.

    Education

    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Job - Specific Qualification

    • Accreditation in a formal project management methodology (e.g. Prince2 or Project Management Institute certification) is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in managing web development and management for a large science-based organization or related organization is required. Experience in managing medium to large-scale technical projects in a multistakeholder environment is required.
    • Experience in content management systems such as Drupal and web content coordination is required.
    • Experience managing a team is desirable.
    • Experience in digital media strategy, transformation and campaigns and other avenues of public information is desirable. Experience in at least one project management tool (e.g. MS project) is desirable. A minimum of two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.     Finance and Budget Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Budget preparation and administration
    • Issues allotments, authorizes sub-allotments, including redeployment of funds when necessary, ensuring appropriate expenditures.
    • Monitors expenditures to ensure that they remain within authorized levels.
    • Administers and monitors extra-budgetary resources, including review of agreements and cost plans, ensuring compliance with regulations and rules and established policies and procedures.
    • Oversees the review and finalization of budget performance reports, monitors variances between approved budgets and actual expenditures.

    Work Experience

    Just Transition Specialist in the Environmental Context

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Under the supervision of the Acting Head of Unit or Legal Officer of Law Division’s Frontiers in Environmental Law Unit, the consultant will produce:
    • Research paper on just transitions in the environmental context.
    • Research paper on environmental rule of law as a catalyst for just transition.
    • Research paper on the application of environmental rule of law in achieving a just transition.
    • Analysis of case studies.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • An advanced level law degree from a university or institution of equivalent status with specialization in environmental law, including natural resources management, environmental assessment, environmental policy, or environmental justice is required.
    • A minimum of ten years of experience working on environmental law, including on the intersection with environmental policy, rule of law and environmental justice is required.
    • Of these 10 years, at least five years of experience in conducting research related to environmental law and in the drafting of legal, policy or academic documents is required.
    • Prior experience with international or regional organizations is required.
    • Excellent research, analytical skills, writing, communications skills, results-focused, clear and concise communication are required.

    Coach/Facilitator

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Under the supervision of the Chief, Youth, Education & Advocacy Unit, the part-time consultant's duties will include: Planning and delivering a two-day team retreat for UNEP’s Youth, Education and Advocacy Unit. This includes: Setting up meetings and establishing the brief

    Communication Expert

    The tasks of the consultant are:

    • Mobilize resource and partnerships for waste pollution action communication;
    • Build #BeatWastePollution communication within the larger #BeatPollution communication platform;
    • Maintain and update UNEP IETC website and as necessary upload information and documents in the website;
    • Carry out social media communication as it relates to IETC;
    • Coordinate launch and communication of latest UNEP science and evidence on waste pollution, including the launch of the related publication to the Global Waste Management Outlook 2024;
    • Collate and coordinate communication of best practices, case studies, and stories of leadership to inspire action for waste pollution, which will also be accommodated in the UNEP waste knowledge sharing platform;
    • Coordinate communication for the observance of the Zero Waste Day;
    • Develop networks and outreach mechanisms to amplify communication on waste pollution action, including UNEP’s collaborating and supporting organisations such as Institute of Global Environmental Strategies and Global Environment Centre Foundation;
    • Backstop regions and countries to communicate on waste pollution action communication from the global perspective;
    • Identify and guide integration of communication and messaging on waste pollution action communication in global events;
    • As requested, organize public awareness events to communicate waste related information;
    • As necessary, organise design of relevant UNEP publications and format them in accordance with the UNEP Publication Policy.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Education: Graduate degree in the field of environmental management, geography/anthropology, journarism, communication, environmental economics, environmental policies and strategies, and other environmental areas.
    • Professional Experience: At least 2 years of professional experiences in communication on environment, waste communication and outreach, waste good practices information management and other waste related fields.

    Environmental Law Expert

    The consultant will

    • Develop a survey to be disseminated across Argentinian’s provinces to assess the current state of the subnational legislation and the possibilities of advancing subnational legislation focused on air quality.
    • Carry out a baseline mapping and analysis of the policy, legislative, and institutional framework governing air quality, the identification of minimum standards legislation at the national and regional level, as well as other related policies, incorporating the information received through the survey. This will include undertaking a legal analysis of the legislation regulating the transportation sector at both national and subnational level, with a focus on their implications for air quality management. 
    • Based on the analyses under points (1) and (2) above, and taking into consideration identified priorities and good practices: produce a first draft of a “National Law on Air Quality Minimum Standards”; organize, facilitate and undertake a national stakeholder consultation, including development of the workshop agenda, workshop moderation strategies, list of potential participants etc. The consultations should facilitate a discussion on the draft National Law.
    • Prepare a final report of the consultation workshop, including key findings, outcomes and next steps for the review of the draft National Law on Air Quality Minimum Standards. (v) Finalize the Draft National Law on Air Quality Minimum Standards and integrate, where appropriate, feedback from the consultations. Design a proposal to strengthen legal capacities of government officials at national and subnational levels for the timely implementation of the air quality legislation. The proposal should include an identification of key institutions and/or offices recommended for capacity building initiatives.
    • Communicate periodically with UNEP representatives, such as MCDU, UNEP Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean and UNEP Sub regional Office for the South Cone, including through organizing and conducting team meetings to update on progress and milestones. Each payment will be disbursed upon timely delivery of each Product, duly approved by the Head of the Montevideo Coordination and Delivery Unit (MCDU) of the Law Division or his designated representative(s), including the UNEP Sub regional Office for the Southern Cone located in Montevideo, Uruguay, and the UNEP Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, located in Panama City.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • A Master’s Degree in law, environmental law, international environmental law, or related fields is required, preferably with a focus on air quality and/or sustainable development.
    • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive working experience in international law, environmental law, environmental policy, or a related field is required.
    • Background in legal drafting, development of legal and institutional frameworks, and legal analysis related to environmental management law is an asset.
    • Experience in working on environmental issues in Latin America, particularly in Argentina.

    Ocean Governance Assistant - BBNJ Intern

    The overall objective of the UNEP's Ecosystems Division is to support countries in conserving, restoring and sustainably managing their terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems, the biodiversity they contain and the products and services they provide for human well-being and prosperity. Focusing on tackling climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, across marine, coastal and aquatic ecosystems, the Marine and Freshwater Branch helps countries develop policies and programmes to respond to these challenges, while integrating linkages between poverty and the environment in development planning. Within the Marine and Freshwater Branch the intern’s responsibilities will support overall technical and coordination needs related to implementation of the Strategic Action Plan for the BBNJ Agreement.
