Education Requirements

• Honours degree in mechanical or thermodynamic engineering from a reputable university

Experience Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a design engineer for thermal power plants
• Proven track record of previous design experience for thermal energy projects in emerging markets for solid-fired power plants

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business Development Teams to deliver complex decarbonisation projects
• Update our client’s standard technical contract documentation
• Review tender proposals and technical specifications
• Identify and engage key vendors with the Business Development Team for each project
• Prepare scopes of work and manage third-party consultants
• Guide construction partners through company technical specifications and provide technical training as needed
• Conduct site visits to assess project technical risks
• Engage with clients' technical teams to manage project delivery
• Review detailed engineering drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with company and client requirements
• Lead HSE and design safety reviews before final design approval
• Manage technical project delivery with the Project Manager, including vendor and contractor designs
• Oversee technical management of interfaces with split design responsibilities
• Manage relationships and inputs from third-party technical consultants
• Lead the company’s Technical Team on each project, ensuring compliance with PPA and technical requirements, and oversee QA/QC plans
• Conduct regular site visits for technical compliance and manage construction partners' technical teams
• Assist the operational team in managing contractor/vendor technical liabilities post-commissioning
• Assess plant performance to ensure compliance with PPA and contractor/vendor obligations
• Manage O&M technical obligations of construction partners and third-party contractors

• With extensive experience in energy audits and efficiency projects in emerging markets, you bring robust procedures and evaluation tools to the table. Your deep understanding of thermal energy systems and energy efficiency measures will be critical in optimising the technical and commercial aspects of thermal project development and delivery across Africa.

Experience Requirements

• Proven experience in designing energy optimisation and efficiency projects in emerging markets
• In-depth understanding of the African thermal energy industry and energy efficiency technologies (heat pumps, chillers, waste heat recovery systems, heat exchangers)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business development teams to create and implement innovative decarbonization solutions for clients
• Develop technical solutions for projects, evaluate vendor proposals, and manage third-party consultants
• Provide guidance on energy efficiency initiatives and streamline processes
• Support the transition of projects to the engineering and construction team
• Oversee the design and contractual framework, ensuring clarity among all parties involved in project execution

• Your extensive industry experience has refined your negotiation and proposal writing and execution abilities. You’ve established strong industry partnerships, creating a robust network of biomass professionals. Your travels and interactions with stakeholders have given you a practical understanding of biomass densification.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or finance from a reputable university
• MBA is non-negotiable

Experience Requirements

• 6+ years in a procurement role, preferably in the biomass industry
• Established network of biomass partners and suppliers is highly advantageous
• Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and executing contracts
• Working understanding of biomass densification

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive market assessments to identify suitable biomass feedstocks for projects
• Identify and evaluate potential biomass partners and suppliers, and execute supply agreements through negotiation and proposal drafting
• Develop tailored strategies for biomass procurement, storage, processing, transportation, and supply
• Perform cost-benefit analyses to determine the most efficient approach between transportation and biomass processing/densification
• Formulate ash disposal strategies and establish agreements for ash off-take or corporate social responsibility initiatives
• Continuously optimize sourcing strategies to align with cost and sustainability objectives
• Collaborate with the E&S team to conduct sustainability assessments of the biomass procurement strategy as per board requirements
• Monitor biomass supply costs, sustainability metrics, and quality standards
• Prepare presentations for management and board meetings related to biomass management responsibilities
• Oversee a team of in-country biomass procurement specialists
