    Credit Manager - Sanctioning

    Job Summary

    1. A credit professional responsible for credit risk structuring of transactions and sanctioning covering multiple industry sectors. The role holder will have specific responsibilities for a range of Business Banking customers (typically, with credit exposures of Kes 50 million and less).
    2. Support the Corporate Credit team in providing credit input to Absa Kenya, delivering a World-Class Credit service and contributing towards achievement of the teams risk and business objectives.
    3. Ensuring the optimal quality of the credit portfolio by application of best practice in decision-making, to a maximum personal lending discretion.

    Job Description

    Accountability:  Credit Risk Management - Time Split: 60-70%

    Outputs:

    • Ensure the highest standard of credit quality through the structure, sanctioning, monitoring and control of credit applications. Maintenance of these standards both personally and as part of the Corporate Credit Team.
    • Sole lending discretion, DG linked up to a maximum of Kes 50 million (depending on personal experience/accreditation).
    • Exercise judgement and discretion in the evaluation and approval/decline of higher risk classification credit proposals.
    • Provide feeds into business and credit policy development, where appropriate.
    • Provide feeds into credit process development, where appropriate.
    • Implementation and ongoing delivery of business and credit policies and processes.
    • Responsibility for personal adherence to governance, compliance and lending portfolio controls.  Ensuring own conformance to policy and procedures within the Corporate Credit Function, including proactive management of agreed responsibilities for Data Integrity.
    • Maintain interactive relationship with other risk functions and Conformance Team.
    • Advise on risk reward and challenge pricing where appropriate

    Accountability:  Business Risk Partnership - Time Split:  20-30%

    Outputs:

    • Deliver service in line with agreed business needs.
    • Work in partnership with Country colleagues and proactively anticipate, respond to and seek to exceed the expectations of customers. 
    • Work with Country colleagues, providing post application based coaching and discussion, where appropriate to ensure effective development and delivery of bespoke Risk solutions for customers.
    • Proactively contribute to embedding agreed change management initiatives in support of process and quality improvements, cost reductions and development of people.
    • Contribute towards the Team operating within cost budgets making recommendations for ‘working smarter’.

    Accountability:  Staff Management - Time Split:  10-20%

    Outputs:

    • Support the Team Leaders in delivering effective performance development for individuals within the team.
    • Drive proactive application of Barclays Behaviors both personally and throughout the team and coach and support colleagues within the Team.

    Treasury Analyst - Balance Sheet Management

    Job Summary

    To be responsible for the in-country Balance Sheet Management functions of Asset and Liability Management, Liquidity and Funding, and Capital.

    Accountability:  LIQUIDITY & FUNDING

    Key actions to include:

    • Supporting the Head of BSM in managing the banks Liquidity and Funding.
    • Ensuring appropriate funding profiles are achieved (diversification of funding base and lengthening of the funding profile)
    • Supporting the Head of Balance Sheet Management in compiling an annual funding plan, which is tracked monthly, with a challenge-and-review process against business STP, and RAF forecasts presented at monthly ALCO.
    • Monitoring and reporting on adherence to all regulatory and internal funding requirements and limits as maintained by TES.
    • Ensuring all behavioral assumptions from a liquidity perspective are in line with Absa Treasury guidelines
    • Support Head of Balance sheet Management in setting and monitoring Liquidity Risk Appetite
    • Support Head of Balance Sheet Management with liquidity stress testing

    Accountability:  ALCO PROCESS

    Key actions to include:

    • Supporting the Head of Balance Sheet Management in managing the banks ALCO process
    • Timely production of the monthly ALCO pack to required standards in conjunction with internal stakeholders (Risk, Finance and Credit)
    • Co-ordination of contributions and business proposals on behalf of ALCO members

     

    Accountability:  FUNDS TRANSFER PRICING (FTP)

    Key actions to include:

    • Supporting the Head of Balance Sheet Management in managing the banks FTP process
    • Ensuring FTP guides business (Retail, BB, Corporate and Markets) behavior and immunizes businesses from market risk as far as possible
    • Ensuring Absa liquidity premiums are incorporated in all FCY pricing by business 
    • Maintaining all pricing assumptions to ensure FTP rates are aligned to, or will align the balance sheet to, required interest rate and liquidity risk profiles
    • As part of the NPA process, assign the appropriate FTP rate to new products after assessing interest rate and liquidity behavioral profiles

    Accountability:  ASSET & LIABILITY MANAGEMENT (ALM)

    Key actions to include:

    • Supporting the Head of Balance Sheet Management in managing the banks ALM process
    • Achieving an appropriate risk profile within Group standards and risk tolerances by centralizing, netting and hedging all manageable risk via the Treasury Execution Services (TES) desk
    • Measuring, analyzing and interpreting interest rate risk in the banking book
    • Performing margin compression analysis
    • Performing structural analysis and adjustment of all balance sheet items
    • Ensuring all behavioral assumptions (including pre-payment assumptions) are in line with Absa Treasury guidelines

    Accountability:  CAPITAL MANAGEMENT

    Key actions to include:

    • Supporting the Head of Balance Sheet Management in managing the bank’s capital position
    • Ensuring adherence to Capital Management policies and in-country regulatory and Board approved capital targets
    • Engaging with Finance teams to understand balance sheet reconciliation and trends
    • Supporting the Head of Balance Sheet Management in compiling a capital plan, which forecasts regulatory and economic capital demand & supply across business units over a 3-year planning horizon while assessing if the forecast capital position meets regulatory and Board approved targets
    • Determining capital buffers and performing Cost of Equity calculations in line with Absa Treasury principles and methodology.
    • Supporting the Head of Balance Sheet Management in compiling the ICAAP

    Accountability:  RISK MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING

    Key actions to include:

    • Assist to drive the annual planning and review of Treasury STP, RAF and MTP budgets
    • Reviewing daily risk and P&L reports

    Premier Relationship Manager

    Job Summary

    • Responsible for recruiting and maintaining a portfolio of premier clients, by selling a high quality, relationship oriented, financial planning service, supported by a dedicated Account Executive. Clients are recruited from the existing Bank customer base and externally with the aim of developing significant sales, and high levels of client satisfaction through a mutually beneficial relationship.
    • The client relationship is managed on a highly proactive and ongoing basis over an extended period. Whilst part of a team, the jobholder operates on a mobile basis, meeting clients at times and locations convenient to the client

    Relationship Management and Cross-Sell 85%

    • Be the first point of contact of customers in the portfolio
    • Drive any required communication to customers in the portfolio
    • Proactively target and recruit clients, through referrals from existing customer portfolios
    • Proactively engage customers in existing portfolios to onboard close family members as part the family banking strategy
    • Ensure new customer’s meet CLM Involved measures upon handover from the Premier Acquisition team. Involved tracking will commence from Day 31 to Day 90 and will ensure continued account funding, digital usage and product holding
    • Complete a detailed Customer Discussion Document for new customers upon hand-over from the Premier Acquisition team
    • Ensure the customer portfolio meets CLM Engaged measures – account funding, digital usage and product holding
    • Drive increased assets balance sheet per customer, liabilities balance sheet per customer and revenue per customer through continued customer engagements
    • Monitor and ensure funding of Zero Balance Accounts, Low Funded Accounts, Inactive Accounts and Overdrawn Accounts in your portfolio as part of ensuring funding growth.
    • Ensure ongoing reviews of the Customer Discussion Document for each customer in the portfolio and drive satisfaction through proactive identification of identified clients’ ongoing financial needs and cross-sale of required solutions.
    • Actively drive cross-sale targets for the portfolio across product lines – Assets, Liabilities, FX etc.
    • Proactive engagement of required business specialists to support the fulfillment of customer needs
    • Manage the client portfolio, making proactive contact on a regular basis and meeting clients at their convenience, and maintain an updated calendar/diary to track customer meetings  Ensure customers in the portfolio are contacted/engaged as per the laid down Premier Customer Engagement procedures

    • Ensure that targeted level of business results (i.e. income, balance sheet, costs, client satisfaction and client recruitment) for jobholder’s own portfolio are maintained
    • Review portfolio on a regular basis recommending clients
