    Resource Scheduler

    As part of an historic and exciting expansion of BBC Africa, the BBC World Service is launching new TV, radio and digital content for audiences in Africa. The new investment by the BBC World Service in Africa aims to increase its reach and impact among audiences by creating Africa-focused content to be delivered by our growing network of broadcast partners across the continent. A substantial volume of production will take place in Nairobi, where the BBC is developing modern multimedia facilities for live programming and production of a wide range of programmes in English, Swahili and other BBC Africa broadcast languages

    The International Bureaux Management team supports all News Group bureaux. The Resource Scheduler reports to the Bureau Manager/Production Operations Manager in Nairobi.

    Role Responsibility

    The Resource Scheduler will co-ordinate the daily running of operations teams, planning and scheduling editorial and operations staff and technical facilities to meet the needs of production in the most effective way. As part of a team you will help manage the day-to-day running of a busy office, providing management information and support. The role will operate to the appropriate degree of competency across a range of systems, primarily ScheduAll. Resource Schedulers form a vital part of a larger team, ensuring the smooth flow of information across Production Operations.

    Are you the right candidate?

    The ideal candidate will be fluent in English and Swahili with a good knowledge of the key production and delivery tools in a tri media environment.  You will have an understanding of the structure and output of operations and a good understanding of programme production processes.  It will be important that you are able to prioritise conflicting requirements and carry out work in an accurate and methodical way.

    Senior HR Advisor

     

    Role Responsibility

    Reporting to a (London based) International HR Business Partner, you will provide operational day to day HR support to our Kenyan teams and if required, more widely across our African operations. You’ll work across a full range of employee life-cycle activity, advising the business across a wide spectrum of fast-moving people-related issues, ensuring compliance with local legislation.

    You will be dealing with local reward and benefits matters, helping to deliver corporate and local reward and benefits strategy as well as advising on local compliance considerations. In this role you will also be playing a part in staff training development initiatives and helping us recruit fantastic and diverse talent for our Kenyan operations.

    You will be working as part of a wider international HR team based in the UK and in other territories, who together have a global remit – so there will be opportunities to support global and pan-regional projects.

    Are you the right candidate?

    Registered by the IHRM in Kenya and holding a CHRP qualification you will bring a solid generalist HR background to this role  Experienced in handling a wide variety of people-related issues both formally and informally you will be an excellent relationship builder with experience of supporting local management teams.  You’ll ideally have industrial relations experience and have worked with local trade unions and delivering employee engagement activity and implementing change.

    A team player with experience in a multi-national work place would be desirable but not essential as would experience of or an interest in the media industry.  Fluency in English is necessary, language skills in Swahili, Somali or BBC Horn of Africa languages would be advantageous
