    Truck Mechanic

    Our client, an Engineering company based in Kampala, Uganda is looking to hire a skilled Truck Mechanic to inspect and repair various types of trucks and diagnose issues to implement the proper solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines, and mechanical systems. An excellent mechanic must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform routine maintenance on trucks, such as checking batteries and changing oil to ensure proper vehicle running.
    • Inspect various parts of trucks, including brake systems, wheel bearings and steering mechanisms to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively.
    • Use different tools and equipment, such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, screwdrivers, hoists, and jacks, to repair trucks while constantly utilizing safety precautions.
    • Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using devises such as motor analyzers, handheld computers, and chassis charts to determine how to address problems.
    • Test drive vehicles to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine what the solution will be.
    • Replace parts, valves, bearings, and gears as needed and repair vehicle cooling and heating systems.
    • Measure vehicle emissions to ensure they are in the proper limits.
    • Ensure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensions.

    Requirements

    • Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical or Equivalent
    • At least 10 years' experience in a similar role.
    • Hands on experience in Scania, Howo & other trucks is must.
    • Must be able to lift heavy equipment and parts regularly.
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Valid Passport.

    Heavy Equipment Mechanic

    Our client, an engineering company based in Kampala, Uganda is looking to hire experienced Mechanics for heavy equipment to join their team. You will inspect, service, and maintain a range of heavy-duty construction equipment. The role will be responsible for driving to the job site, inspecting engines and equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to the construction fleet. To ensure success as a heavy equipment mechanic, you should have proven experience working with heavy machinery, be physically fit, and be able to troubleshoot issues on the job site

    Responsibilities

    • Driving to the job site.
    • Inspecting trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance.
    • Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment.
    • Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts.
    • Repairing damaged equipment parts.
    • Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles.
    • Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments like winches, blades, and side booms.
    • Performing major repair work when necessary.
    • Consulting with other mechanics on smaller jobs.
    • Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management.

    Requirements

    • Diploma in Mechanical engineering or Equivalent course
    • Certification as a heavy equipment mechanic.
    • At least 10 years' proven work experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
    • Understanding of computer testing technologies.
    • Ability to lift heavy machinery.
    • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.
    • Ability to work after-hours if required.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Hands on experience in Caterpillar & other equipment is must.
    • Valid passport.

    Auto Electrician (Equipment & Trucks)

    Our client, an Engineering company based in Kampala, Uganda is looking to hire a skilled Auto Electrician to join their team. Your responsibilities include performing repairs, services, and upgrading automobile electrical systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform routine maintenance on all equipment and trucks.
    • Rebuild and troubleshoot electrical systems.
    • Determines malfunction of electrical system by visual inspection and use of testing devices such as oscilloscope, voltmeter, and ammeter.
    • Tests and repairs starters, generators, and distributors.
    • Rebuilds electrical units, such as starters, generators, and door controls.
    • Repair and troubleshoot brake and suspension systems.
    • Maintain regular, clean, professional appearance of equipment and trucks.
    • Work with other employees to diagnose and resolve vehicle problems.
    • Use a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicle parts to fix.
    • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair.
    • Maintain all necessary records.
    • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
    • Other tasks as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Diploma/Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
    • At least 10 years' experience.
    • Hands on experience in Caterpillar, Scania, Howo & other equipment & trucks are compulsory.
    • Ability to always demonstrate professionalism in the workplace.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Advanced knowledge of modern vehicular electrical systems.
    • Valid passport
