    Acquire to Retire, Specialist

    We are pleased to announce the following role, Acquire to Retire, Specialist in the Finance Operations department – Fixed Assets & Inventory section within the Finance shared services- Finance Division.   In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Reporting to the Team Lead – Acquire to retire the staff will manage the company owned and leased assets both tangible and intangible)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Delivers timely and accurate reports to satisfy statutory and business requirements 
    • Ensures the integrity of processes and systems to record transactions in compliance with  accounting policies and statutory regulation.
    • To reconcile fixed assets, register to the general ledger on a monthly basis breaking down major categories of assets into cost, depreciation and net book value
    • Before month end, liaise with technology division to ensure that all assets put in use in the month especially network infrastructure elements are accounted for under additions for the month by quantity and value
    • Analyze additions from AP ledger and classify them into main asset categories on a monthly basis. Maintain proper trail of supporting documents for additions to fixed assets
    • Review POS on a monthly basis to ensure that any commitments made in respect to assets which have not yet been invoiced are accounted for in the correct accounting period especially items relating to CWIP
    • Review disposals on a monthly basis and ensure the same are in line with company policy and fully analyzed and properly accounted for including retirement of assets from the register
    • Compute monthly depreciation per asset and per group of assets and ensure that it is properly accounted for. Perform a global check for depreciation charge per assets category to ensure reasonableness
    • Prepare schedules required for tax computation purposes as and when required to ensure that proper and maximum possible capital allowances are claimed periodically. Liaise fully with taxation section
    • Justify any adjustments to fixed assets with proper analysis of the impact it has on depreciation.
    • Analyze capital work in progress into the specific sites to which they relate to and tie the same to specific purchase orders.
    • Age the CWIP on a monthly basis based on the issuance report to ensure that no items remain therein for more than 6 months
    • Ensure P$L and balance commentaries are done within stipulated timelines, identifies key performance variances, and provides recommendations and insights on the same.
    • Liaise with the technology, Business partnering, supply chain and other relevant stakeholders for projects capitalization.
    • Manage the audit queries and ensure closure of the same within the stipulated timelines
    • Develop and implement and measure KPIs for staff based on agreed SLAs
    • Document and implement work plans for staff in the section

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience

    • Business related bachelor’s degree from a recognized university;
    • Qualified accountant with CPA (K)/ACCA/CIMA/ACA is a must;
    • 3-5 years post qualification experience in finance with specialization in one or two areas of financial accounting i.e., fixed assets, stock accounting, sub-ledger accounting, statutory reporting;
    • Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Qlik etc

    Core competencies

    • Demonstrate competence in dashboards creation
    • Experience in digital process automations
    • A strategic thinker; shaping processes, people and systems
    • Ability to quickly identify risks and capture accounting implications
    • Hands on experience working with accounting Systems e.g. Oracle, Hyperion, Sap, etc
    • Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to details;
    • Self-driven, results oriented, proactive and an ability to work without supervision
    • Manages the business and people aspects of change to drive performance
    • Finds creative ways to exploit opportunities and solve problems

    VAS and Billing System Engineer

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Manager VAS Operations, the VAS Devops Engineer shall build, operate, develop and integrate VAS Products & Services offered to Safaricom customers with the goal of delivering high quality solutions within approved schedules. The Engineer shall ensure the systems operate within allowed thresholds in terms of capacity and security conformance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operations, configuration and integration of all VAS solutions/systems in line with the Digital IT strategy execution plan.
    • VAS  Systems and Services’ diagnosis and resolution of  issues to ensure MTTR and other service availability KPIs are met.
    • Device and implement Proactive ways and tools for monitoring VAS and Billing Services using Artificial Intelligence operations model(AIOPs) and Machine Learning.
    • Development, configuration and integration of all VAS solutions/systems in line with the Digital IT strategy execution plan.
    • Technical reviews to implements solutions and work arounds for faults/incidents.
    • Actively participate in defining strategy, roadmaps and architecture design for the VAS and Billing Systems.
    • Embrace the new ways of working in VAS and Billing domain with the goal of ensuring 50% of VAS projects are delivered through agile methodology.
    • Timely delivery of projects assigned with the goal of ensuring high quality standards are met and solutions are operationally viable. Responsible for ensuring First Time Right delivery of all solutions developed.
    • Enhance processes and DevOps to improve delivery and increase efficiency by focusing on continuous improvement.
    • Accurately document products & services developed & delivered ensuring they follow DevOps Cycle.
    • Embrace a DevOps culture by ensuring all developed products and Services are gracefully handed to operations for support.
    • Develop and continuously update a knowledge base of best practice for VAS products and Service development.
    • Collaborate with both Technical and Business teams to ensure seamless deployment of products.
    • Proactively manage capacity and ensure VAS systems operate below 70% utilization.
    • Liaise with Support teams, infrastructure team, network administrators, information security to maintain service availability and integrity of the applications.

    Qualifications - External

    • BSc. Degree in Telecommunication Engineering/Electrical & Electronics engineering/Computer Science/IT.
    • 2 years’ experience in a busy telecommunication/ IT environment or Software Engineering with good knowledge in development for VAS solutions including Messaging, Voice, Video & IOT.
    • Software Engineering methodologies including Agile-oriented development.
    • Proficiency in networking protocols – TCP/IP, DNS and load balancing.
    • Working knowledge in Unix systems and Databases – Oracle, MySQL.
    • Working knowledge of security encryption solutions – SSL, firewalls, VPN, IPsec
    • Strong experience in programming/scripting language(s) – Python, Perl , Shell  or equivalent.
    • 3rd Party RESTful API integration, PHP, MySQL, SQL server, web service working knowledge preferred.
