Key roles and responsibilities

• You will be expected to drive and shape our client’s digital strategies and journeys using our expertise within digital transformation.
• You will formulate digital strategies for our clients and support our client’s in the roll out and implementation of the digital strategy initiatives.
• You will bridge the gap with different internal business functions and client engagement teams to understand our client’s digital requirements.
• Identifying our client’s digital needs from their corporate strategy vision/statement. 
• You will facilitate decision-making with clients and partners on use of digital and technology to meet our clients’ business needs.
• You will research and identify key technologies industry trends to shape the context for digital strategy decision making.
• You will grow the skills and provide leadership and guidance to the team throughout the digital strategy formulation and/or digital initiatives roll out to ensure accurate delivery of project plans.
• You will develop use-cases on the various emerging technologies including data and analytics, cloud, customer experience, Open Banking, Artificial Intelligence and blockchain in order to showcase their applicability to our clients.
• You will contribute to our business development efforts including proposals preparations and presentations, and our growth pipeline on digital transformation.
• You will develop and leverage Digital Transformation thought leaderships to drive successful business outcomes.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience with a track record of professional success in an IT/Digital strategy consulting or advisory firm, high performing IT department and/or a technology company.
• Proven track record of at least five technology strategy formulation and roll out projects in the last 5 years.
• Awareness and ability to translate the following emerging technologies to business outcomes when positioning digital strategies; Data and Analytics, Cloud, Customer Experience, Artificial Intelligence, Open Banking amongst others.
• Strong technical aptitude, critical thinking abilities and adaptability with structured problem-solving skills in a team environment.
• Strong collaboration skills with multiple departments within the organisation.
• Excellent client engagement skills and strong communication skills comfortable communicating with all organisational levels, people, and roles.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and writing to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstration of innovation as top of mind in delivery of digital strategies would be an added advantage.
• Experience in an agile project delivery environment would be an added advantage

Key roles and responsibilities

•  Reviewing engagement contracts including advising on requested modifications to standard contracts. 
• Evaluating risk documents to identify potential conflicts of interest or ethics and independence issues. 
• Conducting trainings on risk management policies, processes and procedures. 
• Assisting with implementation of risk management policies, processes and procedures. 
• Tracking developments in law and regulations in East Africa and monitoring internal compliance. 
• Carrying out risk management compliance reviews and preparing reports to management. 
• Undertaking research from legal and policy perspectives to support decision making.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Law or a business related field. 
• 1-2 years work experience in compliance or risk management related work.

KPMG East Africa is currently seeking an experienced Data Migration Senior to join our Consulting unit within KPMG Advisory. The candidate will be expected to work with our clients to plan the data migration project, including moving the data and reviewing converted content as necessary, while considering risks and potential impacts. 

Responsibilities 

• Will be responsible for planning and managing data migration projects.
• Day to day involvement with project team member to identify, define, collate document and manage data migration requirement.
• Manage risks and monitor migration process throughout the engagement to ensure quality is maintained.
• Support transformation of the existing data into a format for the new environment and the loading of this data into other database structures.
• Overseeing and ensuring delivery of all aspects of data analysis, mapping, and transfer 
• Review of existing migration tools and recommendations for improving performance of the migration process.
• Review and update of data migration and data cleansing methodologies.
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports/monitoring dashboards.
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
• Filter and “clean” data, and review computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
• Owning the quality of the migrated data and the validity of the migration processes and operation. 
• Documentation of the lesson learnt at the end of each engagement. 
• Ensure building of data validation scripts before data upload cycles.

Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics.
• Proven working experience as a data analyst/data migration specialist (recent data migration projects).
• Minimum of 3 years of advanced technical skills in SQL Server Database Management. 
• Experience using Oracle PL/SQL, SSIS, Talend etc.
• Experience in any ETL development tools e.g. Talend, SSIS etc.
• The applicant should have excellent analytical skills and technical writing skills.
• The applicant should have good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with associates, Managers and Directors at all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, Alteryx, Idea etc.).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
• Analyze Legacy Data Models to determine attribute usage/ business purpose.
• Data migration / analysis certification would be an added advantage.

Machine Learning Manager

This role requires one to understand the full spectrum of data feature retrieval, selection, and engineering; model technique selection and integration; interpretation of outputs; and development of recommendations. It is a must to have Deep knowledge/experience in statistics, data mining, machine learning, and/or natural language processing.

The tasks will involve:

• Analysis and modelling of structured data and implementing algorithms to support analysis using advanced statistical and mathematical methods from statistics, machine learning, data mining, econometrics, and operations research is an added advantage
• Retrieve, prepare, and process a rich data variety of data sources such as social media, news, internal/external documents, emails, financial data, and operational data
• Perform Statistical Natural Language Processing to mine unstructured data, using methods such as document clustering, topic analysis, named entity recognition, document classification, and sentiment analysis
• Utilize a diverse array of technologies and tools as needed, to deliver insights, such as R/Python, Spark, Hadoop and PowerBI on the MS Azure stack
• Expert problem-solving and optimization ability through the use and/or development of algorithms, models, testing, etc.
• Undertake the deployment of models in production and usability of insights/predictions in other intelligent applications

Qualifications and experience

• Ability to work with team members and clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems, using excellent problem-solving skills, verbal/written communication, and the ability to explain technical concepts to businesspeople
• MSc or PhD-level in mathematics, statistics, operations research, engineering, computer science or econometrics is required

Senior Software engineer and solution architect

Software developer with a solutioning background will help bridge the gap between technical platform needs (i.e., development stack) and business issues. Solutioning background skews towards software platforms but also bring more architecting/modelling capabilities than a pure software engineer. In this way, they will play an important “utility” role on teams including helping to enable overall solutioning and full-scope architecture design and build. They will be able to complete intermediate-level software and data engineering tasks, basic modelling tasks, and business solutioning and executive communication tasks. They will design software architecture following best practices after understanding customer requirements and enterprise environments.

The tasks will involve:

• Assess, capture, and translate complex business issues and solution requirements into a structured software engineering use case, including rapid learning of industry/domain/client dynamics and development of effective work stream plans
• Utilize a hypothesis-driven problem-solving approach to design, construct, and rapidly test/iterate software platforms and architectures that will enable usability of developed software, interface with data models and visualizations to reveal insight and opportunities for clients
• Deliver client project software work stream through direct ownership of software build, data ingestion APIs, engineering, transformation, automation, and back-end visualization setup, as well as client communication deliverables
• Support build of software environments that enable analytics solutions on a variety of platforms including cloud as required by the client, and create robust documentation of solutions, architecture, automation workflows, and operation procedures
• Proactively broaden and deepen client relationships by working with varying levels of client team members
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to businesspeople, and to explain business concepts to technical resources

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, IT or related relevant degree course
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CFA, CPA, CISA, CIA, CRMA, CRISC, EIA certifications (depending on the role)
• Demonstrated track record of quality work, project management and productive team interactions.
• At least 2 years’ experience in Software engineer and solution architect (Python, Flask &React)
