    Project Engineer

    Hotpoint Appliances Limited has an exciting career opportunity in the Engineering Department. We are seeking for talented, dynamic, self-driven and results oriented individual who is committed to excellent performance and participating in our growth strategy.

    Reports to: Head of Engineering

    Department: Engineering

    Location: Ruiru

    Job Purpose

    • The Project Engineer will be responsible for the successful execution of Hotpoint Appliances development projects, from concept to launch. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality to ensure projects meet all requirements, timelines, and budgets.

    Job Responsibility and Accountability

    • Manage assigned Hotpoint appliance development projects from initiation to completion.
    • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
    • Identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Track project progress, identify and address issues, and implement corrective actions.
    • Facilitate communication and collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.
    • Manage project budgets and ensure effective resource utilization.
    • Conduct project reviews and prepare project documentation.
    • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and technologies relevant to Hotpoint appliances.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Superior.

    Qualification and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical).
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in project management, preferably within the appliance industry.
    • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing complex projects on time and within budget.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
    • Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
    • Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes (a plus).
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Superior.

    Key Skills:

    • Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD.
    • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and project performance standards.
    • Experience in operational management of large scale installations would be preferable.
    • Experienced dealing with subcontracts or self-perform work.
    • Experience in leading successful project teams, including development of employees and maintaining relationships with external parties.

    Design Engineer

    Role Purpose

    • Completing engineering design projects by organizing and controlling design and implementing elements for installation of HVAC systems commercial sites while ensuring compliance with safety standards and adherence to work schedules.

    Job Responsibility and Accountabilities

    • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring the assigned engineering projects.
    • Monitoring compliances to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specification.
    • Interacting with the clients to understand their needs and requirements and represent the same to the team.
    • Working with clients and colleagues to develop a design brief.
    • Using mathematical knowledge and skills to design solutions.
    • Researching whether the design will work and be cost effective.
    • Assessing and testing the usability, environmental impact and safety of a design.
    • Using computer-aided design (CAD) and (REVIT) software to create proposals.
    • Preparation of Shop and as-installed drawings.
    • Estimating changes in scope of work and submit necessary quotation to clients.
    • Ensuring projects is managed within cost and allocated time.
    • Reviewing the approved drawings.
    • Keeping track of equipment and software licenses.
    • Developing and tracking all designs shared with sales team.
    • Increasing the profit margin of project by doing value engineering.
    • Updating department head on design progress on a weekly basis.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Superior.

    Qualification and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC design engineering.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP software.
    • Strong understanding of HVAC principles and system components.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
    • Current registration license from the Engineering Board.

    Key Skills

    • Customer handling capability.
    • Excellent knowledge of design and visualisations software such as AutoCAD/MS Project.
    • Familiarity with ASHRAE regulations, best practices and project performance standards.
    • Experience in operational management of large-scale installations would be preferable.
    • Extensive knowledge of HVAC installation principles/practices required.
    • Experience in leading successful Design project team, including development of employee and maintaining relationships with external parties.
    • Advanced design skills.
    • Product-focused creative thinking.
    • In-depth knowledge of industry design principles
    • Strong working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) or engineering software.
    • Impeccable attention to detail.
    • Excellent problem solving skills.
    • Good project management skills.
    • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
    • Effective oral and written communication.
    • Great leadership skills.
