    Pediatric and Adolescent Care Lead

    Overall Job Function:

    The Pediatric/Adolescent Care Lead is responsible for designing CONNECT’s strategy to support Pediatric HIV and Adolescent Care Services. The position is responsible for developing the models of care and packages for the delivery and support of these services, providing technical oversight to the Clinical Improvement Specialist on the implementation of these packages and evaluation CONNECT’s progress in this. The incumbent is also responsible for providing technical support in the planning and implementation of strategies to support the provision of Pediatric and Adolescent HIV services HIV friendly services to improve their retention HIV services.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • To oversee the implementation of Pediatric and Adolescent specific clinics in supported facilities and other DSD models targeting Pediatric and Adolescents.
    • Oversee the training and mentorship of health care providers in Pediatric and Adolescent HIV care using the national guidelines.
    • To design a CONNECT specific package of support outlining strategies to improve continuity of treatment of HIV-infected children and adolescents in care.
    • To plan and oversee the initiation and implementation of minimum adherence and psychosocial support package in CONNECT supported facilities.
    • To oversee the implementation of peer mentor/case manager program for HIV-infected adolescents in supported facilities, including OTZ lead and champions and PAMA Lead and Champions.
    • To strengthen linkages with community based structures and organizations for enrolment of HIV-infected children and adolescents and their follow-up beyond the facility.
    • To liaise with the Pediatric and Adolescents HIV technical working group in coordinating implementation of these activities as per the National guidelines.
    • To liaise with other stakeholders like the OVC partner and DREAMS partner to optimize psychosocial and adherence support for HIV-infected children and adolescents
    • To oversee the monitoring and evaluation of Pediatric and Adolescent HIV care and treatment services.
    • To optimize use of CQI to improve indicators in pediatric and adolescent programming
    • To represent CONNECT in technical capacity in county and national forums.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBcHB)
    • Master’s degree specialization in Pediatrics is an added advantage.
    • Training in adolescent, PMCT and pediatric care.
    • Experience providing services in public health facility setup.
    • More than five (5) years’ experience in implementing HIV programs for Children and Adolescents.
    • Must have undergone training in National HIV guidelines for children and adolescents.

    Strategic Information Specialist

    Job Summary

    Under the supervision of the Strategic Information Advisor, the SI Specialist will provide technical assistance and capacity building to M&E and data management staff at Point of Service in support of SI activities. S/he will provide support to the M&E and data management components at the Point of Service level.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide specialized training to facility and other partner staff in Health Information Systems including Kenya EMR, DREAMS database.
    • Provide mentorship to site data officers/HRIOs on HIV related M&E systems
    • Develop mechanisms for an up to date monitoring and triangulation of program data with other existing databases through focused use and result dissemination of Kenya EMR and DREAMS dashboard.
    • Conduct routine Prevention data management including data collection, collation, and analysis and reporting.
    • Ensure that all national HIV related tools are available in supported facilities and health care workers are mentored to use them appropriately
    • Data analysis, generation of Prevention reports and presentation to the program on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis to inform the program/donor/MOH
    • Develop dashboards and Talking walls and conduct data review at the facility, sub counties, to enhance data use in decision-making.
    • Support timely reporting at the program, donor and MOH through 3PM,DATIM and KHIS
    • Develop and revise M&E processes and related tools that support quality assurance for key program areas including any customizations needed to address the program needs.
    • Provide capacity building and other form of support to site level staff on M&E activities such as data collection, analysis and interpretation
    • Conduct data quality assessments with strategic action plans and share assessment findings for improvement with both the program and MoH with ability to track implementation of the data quality improvement plans (DQIPs).
    • Conduct targeted site visits to provide mentorship on all issues related to Strategic Information
    • Conduct data quality control/assurance activities including skills to develop data quality standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Manage project databases and generate reports for donor reporting and project management
    • Develop SQL queries for abstraction and analysis of data from the existing databases
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications and professional skills

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Health Information Systems, Public Health, Health Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics or any other relevant degree. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage
    • Training in M&E from a credible institution is desirable
    • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with HIV Prevention, Key population and DREAMS data systems.
    • Ability to understand PEPFAR MER 2.6 HIV Prevention indicators
    • Strong analytical skills with competences in use of any two of the following Softwares: R, Stata, SPSS, Epi Info, Tableau and Power BI.
    • Advanced computer skills including advanced excel, MS access, PowerPoint etc.
