    Radio Presenter & Continuity Announcer - Radio Citizen

    REF No. HRD/CRFM/RP/7/2024

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    The successful candidate will among others be able to do the following;

    • Research, plan and develop on air content, ideas and concepts in line with the station strategy and values.
    • On air presentation/continuity and acting on feedback from listeners.
    • Write broadcasting reports and execute commercial logs
    • Music research, identify and propose music that should be incorporated into the station sound.
    • Carry out outside broadcasting/Road shows and attend functions on behalf of the station.
    • Receiving briefs from clients/ marketers/ supervisor and executing accordingly.
    • Scripting, recording, packaging and producing station features
    • Creatively create and execute on air gaming elements
    • Cross-promote the company’s online & traditional product lines
    • Conceptualize and execute online campaigns for various projects
    • Experience in gospel show presentation and understanding of the Kenyan and East African gospel landscape
    • Ensure all social media platforms are updated regularly
    • Advise supervisor on new trends in online tools, applications, channels, design & strategy
    • Liaise with digital sales officers to create campaigns that can be commercialized

    Skills and Personal attribute

    • Fluent in spoken and written Swahili and English with a radio voice & personality as well as an ear for music.
    • Able to work odd hours including weekends and holidays without supervision.
    • Must be social media savvy, innovative and creative
    • Have an understanding of Media Law and Ethics
    • Demonstrate professional approach and appearance including enthusiasm, drive, commitment, honesty, trust and loyalty
    • Keep abreast of evolving trends through continuing professional education in the area of digital platforms

    Academic and professional experience

    • A university degree in journalism / mass communication or another related field from a recognized university.
    • At least 3 years experience as a Presenter /newsreader/reporter in a reputable radio station.
    • Must be social media savvy, innovative and creative.

    News Presenter/Anchor-Mulembe FM

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To sub-edit copy from reporters and correspondents.
    • Writing scripts for bulletins, headlines and reports.
    • Selecting appropriate stories and exercising editorial judgement on the best angle from which to approach a story.
    • Preparing and presenting material ‘on air’ for both pre-recorded and live pieces.
    • Generating ideas for stories, features and following leads as well as pitching story ideas to editors.
    • Developing and maintaining local contacts.
    • Coordinating and liaising with correspondents in the field for purpose of compiling news and features.
    • Make sure that news bytes are of good quality, ethically sound and precise to the right length.
    • Ensure all social media platforms are updated regularly
    • Advising your supervisor on new trends in online tools, applications, channels, design & strategy
    • Moderating talk shows
    • Write broadcasting reports and execute commercial logs
    • Music research – identifies, propose and source music to be incorporated into the station sound.
    • Cross-promote the Company’s online & traditional product lines
    • Conceptualize and execute online campaigns for various projects

    Skills and Personal attributes

    • Have a good command of English, Kiswahili and Luhya languages. (Attach Voice demo)

    • Ability to moderate a talk shows

    • Clear understanding of media laws and ethics
    • Self driven, assertive, punctual and organized.
    • Must have a nose for news, broad and strategic thinker and pay attention to detail.
    • Must demonstrate a professional approach and appearance including enthusiasm, drive, commitment, honesty, trust, loyalty and keep abreast with evolving trends.

    Academic and professional experience

    • A university degree in journalism / mass communication or another related field from a recognized university.

    Key roles & responsibilities

    • Ability to shoot visual content, report, write, edit and produce stories on deadline for multiple platforms – Tv, Radio, digital and social media platforms
    • Offer creative and innovative ideas for elevated storytelling
    • Excellent writing skills, with solid news judgment and ethical decision-making skills
    • Generating ideas for news stories and news features
    • Following leads from news agencies, the police, the public, press conferences and other sources
    • Generating ideas to head of desks, editors and producers
    • Writing scripts for bulletins, headlines and special reports
    • Superior on-camera presentation
    • Capture quality footage
    • Edit footage as needed
    • Provide practical and creative input to scene planning
    • Exercising judgment on the best story angle
    • Preparing material for both pre-recorded and live pieces
    • Developing and maintaining useful contacts and relations with news sources

    Academic and professional/work Experience

    • Degree in journalism, mass communications or any other related field
    • At least 3 Years relevant experience as a reporter / correspondent in a busy media house.

    Essential Competences

    • Excellent written and spoken English, Swahili and either Kikuyu, Kalenjin, Meru, Embu, Kamba or Kisii (Attach vernacular voice demo in mp3 format)
    • An edge for news or features, ability for quick thinking, persistence, personal initiative and a good memory
    • Sound knowledge of the local and international social, political and economic news-shaping environment
    • A clear communicating voice
    • Ability to report accurately and impartially.
