    Senior Manager- Youth Segment Lead

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to the Tribe Lead - Segment Marketing, the position holder will as a custodian of the Youth Segment portfolio, be responsible to lead an end to end insight led youth segment squad to acquire, grow and retain segment customers by providing differentiated experience that positions Safaricom as the brand for the Youth and efficiently manage the segment P&L.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • End to end accountability of the segment from insights and foresights development, relevant youth proposition and customer journeys.
    • Responsible for segment NPS, Brand love, consideration and revenue.
    • Clear roadmap for the youth portfolio to deliver on mission KPIs.
    • Ownership of segment GTM strategy and publicity opex while driving efficiency to deliver maximum ROI value for the segment.
    • Manage the agency creative development process and resourcing levels required for Safaricom to ensure delivery of above the line, and below the line advertising materials for execution.
    • Stakeholder management across the business to deliver brilliant executions for the benefit of the youth customer and the business.
    • People responsibility for the squad to ensure team members and ready, willing and able to deliver the mission for the segment.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Must have technical / professional qualifications:

    • A degree in marketing, business administration.
    • Demonstratable experience in driving a youth focused business successfully.
    • 10 years’ experience in an Advertising managerial position function with a focus on brand management and advertising
    • Strong creative and conceptual skills.
    • Attention to detail with excellent interpersonal and communications skills
    • An excellent planner and organizer

    Integration Engineer

    Reporting to the CVM Technical Lead – Big Data & CVM, the position holder will be responsible for software development to support enterprise journeys automation. He/she will work in cross functional team composed of architects, developers, customer journey experts and engineering teams.

    Application development duties include but not limited to analysis, design, development, testing, documentation of the new and existing integration services; stress and security validations to ensure integrity of the web services; maintenance and fault management.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Stakeholder analysis for user stories elicitation and software design.
    • Development and deployment of front end, backend microservices and database schemas.
    • Software application monitoring to ensure set availability and performance KPIs are met.
    • Unit, system, load, and security testing of delivered solutions to ensure they work as per expected standards.
    • Validation & Verification – oversee the user acceptance assurance of application functional logic, data processing and error management.
    • Liaise with Support teams, infrastructure team, network administrators, information security to maintain service availability and integrity of the applications.

    Qualifications

    • BSc. Computer Science/Software Engineering/IT.
    • 3 years’ experience in software development in a busy IT environment.
    • Extensive programming experience using either Java, C#, Python, JavaScript etc.
    • Solid understanding of web services/technologies - REST/JSON, SOAP, XML, XSD.
    • Extensive experience with data management – data structures, relational/NoSQL databases, Stored Procedures, PL/SQL development.
    • Extensive experience in deploying API on middleware technologies such as TIBCO, Tomcat, Glassfish, and containerized environments i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Azure, AWS.
    • Experience with event-based and message-driven distributed system like Apache Kafka, ActiveMQ, Rabbit MQ or Tibco EMS
    • Experience in use of source code management systems like SVN, GIT and build tools like Ant, Maven.
    • Strong knowledge & experience using (CI/CD) such as Jenkins.
    • Experience in Agile Development/software life-cycle development.
    • Experience in deploying solutions on Linux operating system

    M-Pesa Africa – Technical Operations Manager

    Role Purpose

    In this role you will be expected to lead and manage the 24x7x365 Technical enterprise and Network Operations Center as well as manage and own key people, processes and tools, to ensure robust systems monitoring and effective management of critical incidents to ensure overall availability, performance, health, and security of all services.

    Key Role Responsibilities

    • Responsible for managing and coordinating the Operations technical support teams. The main aim for this coordination is to ensure that the operations centre runs efficiently without interruption.
    • Primarily deals with users, customers, vendors, engineers and the whole technical team.
    • Ensures that the systems and technology used are constantly upgraded to remain relevant.
    • Constantly update his / her knowledge as the success of a Technical manager depends on his / her knowledge of the industry and the level of experience in the field.
    • The Technical Operations manager must keep senior management informed about major incidents which impact business.
    • Comes up with innovative solutions to various networking problems and ensures that customer needs are properly defined and satisfactorily met. Constantly evaluates the workings of Operations centre and stays abreast of new technologies emerging in the industry.
    • Technical Operations Manager oversees the work of junior employees to ensure that system requirements have been properly implemented and procedures carefully followed. Ensure that escalations procedures are clearly documented and understood.
    • Responsible for informing Management, partners and peers about infrastructure performance issues and service availability.
    • Ensures the duty shift table for the SSOC and the allocation of staff members (SSOC technicians and engineers) on different shift duties for ensuring the whole SSOC shift works in an efficient and effective manner.
    • Ensure alignment with CAB/ECAB process to manage infrastructure downtime for maintenance or upgrades.
    • Responsibility for direct supervision of team members;-
    • Conduct Performance Appraisals, coaching, training and objective settings.
    • Provide an assessment of all staff and provide internal/external training schedule
    • Provide direction and leadership to build process-focused, cross-functional team.
    • Manage scheduling of shift coverage and operational work streams to optimize service delivery.
    • Address technical and non-technical escalations.
    • Report on key metrics of availability, incident resolution and service delivery performance.  Manage and document Standards, Policies, and Processes for the Operations service based on Best practices.

    • Responsible for toolsets required to provide event management services
    • Ensure maximum exploitation toolsets within Vodacom catalogue for monitoring

    Ad-Hoc Project Management

    • Manage projects to upgrade and maintain NOC technologies (SolarWinds, Splunk, etc).
    • Assist with various service-related projects as requested.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Essential

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field-Preferably STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
    • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience leading Technical Operations Teams.
    • 5+ years team or project management experience.
    • Experience with monitoring technologies including Splunk, SolarWinds, Cisco APP Dynamics, Dynatrace, etc.
    • Monitoring or troubleshooting experience for business-critical and revenue-generating platforms.
    • Experience with system administration and troubleshooting of Linux, Unix and Windows.
    • Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring policies and best practices.
    • Experience in Java and UNIX shell or MS Powershell scripts.
    • Understanding of Infrastructure environments – Datacentre, VMware, storage, networks, databases, etc
    • Understanding of security issues in a FinTech and mobile network environment and awareness of potential vulnerabilities.
    • Demonstrated ability of industry standard process frameworks (ITIL / Six Sigma).

    Desirable

    • Mobile Payment or Financial Services Experience
    • Service Operations Qualification – ITIL
    • Regulated industry experience
