The selected selected candidate will report to the Claims Management Manager located at the head office in Nairobi. Kenya.
The main duties will include but will not be limited to: Carrying out prudent underwriting in life/claims reassurance and insurance operations in order to have the premium growth and profits to the Corporation and satisfied customers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Proactively manage individual claims from notification to closure, investing the necessary level of involvement required for each claim depending on inter alia, the nature, category, maturity type and quantum of claim
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, half yearly statistics i.e. aggregate outstanding losses, treaty outstanding losses, outstanding losses recoverable from reinsurers, outstanding losses under the local quota share treaty
• Ensuring that all possible recoveries are made from our retrocession protections
• Analysis of claims experience of various risks usually for use by underwriters;
• Manage claims portfolio to optimize performance;
• Response to Cedants' and Reinsurers' queries
• Any other duties and responsibilities that will be assigned by management.
• Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor's degree in insurance or a business related field from a recognized University. They should be holders of a Diploma in Insurance from Chartered Insurance Institute (London) or hold its equivalent. In addition they should have 3 years' experience in reinsurance practice.
• They should have good organizational and analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills and proficiency in office productivity tools.
