    Job Summary

    The overall function of this position involve driving the assigned vehicle; carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical, tyre pressure and brake systems, etc.; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of the vehicle systems; maintenance of work ticket(s) for vehicle assigned; safe keeping of maintenance records; ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road; overseeing safety of the passengers and/or goods therein a well as other road users; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle and ensuring proper, authorized and efficient use of the vehicle within the legal requirements of the Government.

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Drive assigned motor vehicle as authorized
    • Maintain defensive driving and operate assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner
    • Always carry only authorized passengers and goods
    • Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route of service
    • Present safety briefing to passengers prior to each trip departure
    • Keep the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets (work ticket), vehicle maintenance, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records
    • Fuel assigned vehicle and perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required.
    • Coordinate the schedule for vehicle maintenance with staff to minimize service interruptions.
    • Ensuring security and safety of assigned vehicle on and off the road
    • Always observe traffic laws and highway code
    • Ensure that the road license, inspection stickers, insurance certificate and any other mandatory documents of the vehicle(s) allocated is up to date.

    Required qualification

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D plus or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
    • A valid driving licence.
    • At least five years’ experience in driving 4 X 4 vehicles in different terrains and being conversant with vehicle systems such as winches and other vehicle accessories
    • Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week in recognized training Institution
    • Passed suitability Test for Driver Grade III
    • Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
    • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police
    • Demonstrated outstanding professional competence in work performance and results.
    • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicles(s) an officer is required to drive
    • Any training in vehicle mechanics will be an added advantage
    • Knowledge of basic computer packages
    • Ability to communicate fluently in both English and Kiswahili

    2. Hand delivered applications should be dropped at the offices of the Migori County Public Service Board located at Nyamome along Namba – Masara road adjacent to Nyamome SDA church.
    3. All applications should reach the Secretary/CEO Migori County Public Service Board on or before Wednesday 16thMarch, 2022 at 5:00pm.
    4. Shortlisted candidates will be required to produce their original identity cards, academic and professional certificates and testimonials.
    5. For candidates to meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, applicants must obtain the following clearances:

    • Tax compliance certificate from KRA
    • Clearance certificate from HELB
    • Clearance certificate from Ethics and Anticorruption Commission (EACC)
    • Certificate of good conduct from Criminal Investigation Department
