    IT-Systems Administrator

    What is an IT Administrator?

    • An IT Administrator is a key figure in maintaining the technological backbone of an organization. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of computer networks and systems to ensure they run efficiently and securely.
    • The IT Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software, managing network servers, and ensuring all systems are up-to-date and operating smoothly. They play a critical role in ensuring the IT infrastructure supports the organization’s goals and user needs.

    What does an IT Administrator do?

    • An IT Administrator handles the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, particularly multi-user computers such as servers. They ensure the internal IT structure of the company remains robust and efficient, handling tasks such as software upgrades, user training, troubleshooting, and network management.
    • They also implement and oversee security measures to protect data and manage access controls.
    • An important part of their role is to provide technical support to employees, resolving any IT-related issues quickly and efficiently. They may also be involved in planning and implementing IT policies and procedures to ensure best practices. The IT Administrator must stay abreast of new technology trends and be able to work with a variety of technologies and systems.

    IT Administrator responsibilities include:

    • Serving as administrator for various corporate software systems.
    • Deploying and enforcing security policies and procedures.
    • Providing support and resolving IT-related issues for colleagues.

    Job brief

    • Join our team as an IT Administrator and play a pivotal role in managing our IT resources efficiently.
    • You will procure, maintain, and administer computers and office equipment across all office locations (Nairobi/Dubai).
    • As the administrator for various corporate software systems, you’ll deploy security tools and policies to safeguard company information.
    • You’ll also support our colleagues by resolving IT problems, assisting with onboarding, and providing guidance on policies and systems.
    • We’re looking for someone who can independently manage IT tasks while ensuring our team’s productivity and satisfaction.

    Responsibilities

    • Procuring, maintaining, and administering computers and office equipment.
    • Administering corporate software systems.
    • Deploying and enforcing security policies and procedures.
    • Providing IT support and resolving problems for colleagues.
    • Assisting with onboarding of new colleagues. User education.
    • Suggesting and implementing improvements in procedures and equipment.
    • Maintaining knowledge of IT support, help desk procedures, products, and services.
    • Managing an issues tracking system and reporting on issue resolution SLAs.

    Requirements and skills

    • Relevant degree or certifications in IT administration, with basic networking knowledge.
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written in English. 
    • Knowledge of help desk software and remote control tools.
    • Good knowledge of Apple MacOS, Windows environment administration and basic networking.
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to work independently and maintain customer satisfaction.
    • Willing to travel if required. 
    • Bonus: Experience as a service desk agent or IT administrator, and understanding of technology industry.
