    Manager, Regional Coordination

    REF -NAC/MRC/12/92022

    Job Purpose

    Responsible to the Director Public Education, Advocacy and Rehabilitation for overall regional coordination of the programs on prevention, facilitation of public participation in the control of alcohol and drug abuse, inter-agency collaboration and liaison among lead Agencies responsible for alcohol and drug-demand reduction preventive education counselling and rehabilitation and compliance in line with the Authority’s mandate. Assist and support County Governments in developing and implementing policies, laws, plans of action on control of drug abuse.

    Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

    • Provide technical advice to the director on matters relating to regional coordination
    • Ensure effective operations of the regional offices to enhance service delivery in line with the authority mandate
    • Coordinate the development of work plans for regional coordination department and undertake continuous performance monitoring and evaluation on the programs
    • Establish, operationalize and maintain effective working relationship with the stakeholders in the elimination of the alcohol and drug abuse in the regions
    • Initiate county level partnerships to support drug demand reduction initiatives
    • Coordinate implementation of operational procedures, policies and standards relating to the management of alcohol and drug abuse in the regions
    • Prepare annual departmental planning and budgeting for all the relevant programmatic area
    • Oversee the development and implementation of a robust risk management framework within the department.
    • Participate in the development the strategic plan and performance contracts and its implementation
    • Report on progress of regional offices programs and activities and make appropriate recommendations for improvement
    • Coordinate public participation on alcohol and drug demand related matters at county level;
    • Coordinate county driven interagency activities;
    • Participate in public fora relating to drug demand reduction activities
    • Oversee mainstreaming of alcohol and drug abuse prevention and management initiatives in county government level institutions
    • Spearhead the Ensure that officers work with diverse groups of stakeholders to develop consensus and partnerships.

    Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).

    Academic qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, Community Development, Sociology or related discipline in social science from a recognized institution
    • Bachelor’s Degree in the following disciplines: Education, Psychology, Counselling, Community Development, Sociology or related discipline in social science or a relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies
    • Membership and good standing in a relevant professional Body

    Previous relevant work experience required.

    • At least eight (8) years working experience, three (3) of which must be in management;

    Other requirements:

    • Leadership course from a recognized institution; and
    • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
