    MYP Digital Design/DP Computer Studies Teacher

    Job Summary

    The teacher of MYP Digital Design/DP Computer Studies will be responsible for effective delivery of lessons and raising the standards of student achievement in Digital Design/Computer Studies, monitoring, and supporting student progress as well as supervising Internal Assessment, Personal Project, and Extended Essay. The Teacher will join an experienced team of IB educators in the Arts department.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Model and promote the IB learner profile
    • Teach across a range of ages and abilities in both the Middle School Digital design (6th -10th) and the IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11-12) 
    • Identify and adopt the most effective active, creative teaching approaches for all students in line with current best practices and the ethos of the academy.
    • Plan, develop and implement high-quality lessons within the within broad, balanced, and differentiated Design curriculum and IB lesson plan template using a variety of approaches 
    • Create a stimulating learning environment, including displays of student work 
    • Collaborate closely with the Department Head and IB Coordinator to co-plan, update, and align units and linear plans across the Computer Science and IB curriculum
    • Contribute to the development of curriculum (the production and ongoing review of units), ensuring both diversity and inclusivity are incorporated into student learning experiences. 
    • Meet school-wide timelines related to student grading and reporting parent/staff communication 
    • Demonstrate and keep current with IB professional development opportunities to implement course changes when necessary. 
    • Attend staff meetings and participate in collaborative planning as required
    • Supervise students for the Extended Essay as required
    • Carry out additional activities, as requested, in line with the general expectations of this job description Professionalism, Disposition, and Skills 
    • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
    • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

    • Commitment to personal learning and exhibit a growth mindset 
    • Demonstrate emotional intelligence and as well as reflective practitioner

    The requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 
    • Classroom teacher certification/qualification to teach the relevant grade levels and with another subject
    • Candidate must be proficient in HTML, CSS, Javascript, PYTHON, PHP, and any other coding languages
    • A minimum of 3 years of recent and relevant experience in a comparable school environment 
    • Prior experience teaching IB or an advanced level Computer Science course/s is an advantage but not essential. 
    • IT competence and experience as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of the databases and other teaching applications.
