    Payroll and Tax Accountant

    Your Role:

    As payroll and tax accountant, you will provide support to the finance and human resource departments as well as the organization at large by managing daily tax and payroll related activities. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances. Accurate payroll and tax compliance are key part in the organization. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers, high level of confidentiality and attention to details.

    What you will do

    • Process payroll to ensure staff are correctly paid and in time in compliance with contractual obligation
    • Prepare all internal dues computations for completeness and accuracy before payment to ensure staff are paid by the last working day of the month after receipt of all relevant information
    • Prepare reconciliations monthly for all the payroll accounts and obtain credible explanations and reasons for all reconciling items to prevent and detect errors and frauds
    • Prepare control accounts and follow up the resolution of reconciling items monthly to ensure accuracy and completeness of the accounts
    • Preparation, reporting and submission of group payroll information and statistics to management for decision making
    • Prepare and file monthly and annual returns to ensure compliance with statutory requirements i.e., NHIF Act, NSSF Act, KRA
    • Prepare audit schedules for both internal and external auditors during audits to ensure audit is done and completed within the time stipulated
    • Contribute to process improvement by participating in a range of payroll and service delivery reform
    • Find tax solutions to complicated tax issues or errors from incorrect tax filings
    • Ensure there is tax compliance across the company
    • Advise management about the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies or new tax laws
    • Keep up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications
    • Ensure all itax related issues are resolved in a timely manner.

    What you bring to KOKO:

    • Good understanding of the common fiscal procedures
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
    • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
    • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
    • University Degree in Business preferably Bachelors of Commerce Accounting/Finance
    • Possess professional qualification (CPAK/ACCA) is an added advantage
    • MUST have minimum three (3) years working experience in the payroll accounting field.
