    Payroll and Tax Accountant

    Your Role:

    As payroll and tax accountant, you will provide support to the finance and human resource departments as well as the organization at large by managing daily tax and payroll related activities. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances. Accurate payroll and tax compliance are key part in the organization. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers, high level of confidentiality and attention to details.

    What you will do

    • Process payroll to ensure staff are correctly paid and in time in compliance with contractual obligation
    • Prepare all internal dues computations for completeness and accuracy before payment to ensure staff are paid by the last working day of the month after receipt of all relevant information
    • Prepare reconciliations monthly for all the payroll accounts and obtain credible explanations and reasons for all reconciling items to prevent and detect errors and frauds
    • Prepare control accounts and follow up the resolution of reconciling items monthly to ensure accuracy and completeness of the accounts
    • Preparation, reporting and submission of group payroll information and statistics to management for decision making
    • Prepare and file monthly and annual returns to ensure compliance with statutory requirements i.e., NHIF Act, NSSF Act, KRA
    • Prepare audit schedules for both internal and external auditors during audits to ensure audit is done and completed within the time stipulated
    • Contribute to process improvement by participating in a range of payroll and service delivery reform
    • Find tax solutions to complicated tax issues or errors from incorrect tax filings
    • Ensure there is tax compliance across the company
    • Advise management about the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies or new tax laws
    • Keep up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications
    • Ensure all itax related issues are resolved in a timely manner.

    What you bring to KOKO:

    • Good understanding of the common fiscal procedures
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
    • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
    • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
    • University Degree in Business preferably Bachelors of Commerce Accounting/Finance
    • Possess professional qualification (CPAK/ACCA) is an added advantage
    • MUST have minimum three (3) years working experience in the payroll accounting field.

    Data Analyst

     Your Role

    As a Data Analyst, you will drive our analytics function by generating data-driven insights to guide commercial and operating strategy; developing metrics, dashboards, and statistical analyses; and helping to shape our overall vision & strategy.

    What You Will Do

    • Build models to identify trends, forecast performance, and identify improvements to company strategy, products, and operations
    • Design and run data analyses to guide decision-making
    • Design and prepare company dashboards and other key stakeholder reporting
    • Design and develop automation tools to streamline day-to-day activities
    • Identify and coordinate data infrastructure improvements with the software team

    What You Will Bring to KOKO

    • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or Economics (Master's degree a plus)
    • 4+ years of experience in data analysis, consulting, finance, or other quantitatively rigorous role
    • Proficiency with Tableau and/or Looker, SQL, Excel, and statistical methods (Python an added plus)
    • Ability to balance priorities, clarify stakeholder requirements, pay keen attention to detail, and generally keep deliverables on schedule

    Principal Product Manager

    Your Role

    • As a Principal Product Manager you will lead our product efforts in one business area and play a key role in enabling KOKO’s long term success, including our expansion across and beyond Kenya. This is a very visible leadership position and has the potential to help increase revenue, make complex logistics and operations more efficient, and delight our colleagues, customers, and partners.
    • You will be a member of the Product leadership team and work directly with executive team members on key company priorities and with other leaders across Engineering, Operations, Marketing & Sales, and Manufacturing. 
    • This is both a creative and analytical role - building on insights gained from data, refining product strategies, and building solutions to better acquire and retain customers, support our employees, and broaden our product offering.
    • This role requires significant time in the local market and close to our operations in Nairobi. We will consider candidates based there, willing to relocate there, or able to travel there for ~30% of their time.

    • You will be a senior leader in the organisation, defining the KOKO product roadmap and vision, identifying opportunities to innovate and drive value for our customers and colleagues

    • We are looking for a hands-on leader with a strong blend of business and technical savvy as well as strategic thinking and tactical execution, who is passionate about shaping markets in Kenya and beyond
    • 8+ years experience in product management with a strong track record of shipping high quality products
    • Proven ability to deliver business results by developing, prioritising and delivering on a roadmap that addresses customer needs and pain points via innovative products
    • You may have managed PM teams but would prefer to get back closer to the product work itself
    • We strongly prefer if you have had experience working in combined software and hardware businesses (with manufacturing and logistics)

    Python and Odoo Engineer

    Your Role

    • As KOKO grows within and outside Kenya, our team is looking for experienced Python and Odoo engineers to lead development of our cloud based software products, and be responsible for major technical decisions associated with them accountable for their successful execution. 
    • In this position on the software engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to many customer and internal facing products. KOKO’s suite of products spans multiple technical domains and disciplines in software and hardware, and so experience in end-to-end systems thinking across distributed components is key for this role.

    What you will do

    • Design, implement and deploy back-end Python and Odoo applications
    • Develop and maintain CRM, Manufacturing, Finance and Inventory management modules
    • Lead the delivery of software projects in a team-based environment 
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with business users, product managers, project managers and other engineers to to define, design, scope and ship new features using elegant solutions.
    • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
    • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
    • Help others to improve the quality of their work through regular design and code reviews
    • Deliver new features to production environments and support them in operation
    • Participate in building the engineering culture at KOKO

    What You Will Bring to KOKO

    • At least three years experience of development in Python OR Odoo
    • Excellent at Python programming and PostgreSQL
    • Ability to develop robust and scalable backend services defined by RESTful APIs in Python
    • Familiarity with Cloud/ SaaS architectures and how to build secure and maintainable services
    • Strong understanding of unit testing, design patterns and usage of tools like profilers
    • Experience with source control and continuous integration tools (We use GIT and Jenkins)
    • Worked in an Agile multi-functional team 
    • Thrive in an environment that requires you to partner with multiple cross-functional teams as stakeholders/customers
