    Project Nurse

    Responsibilities

    • Obtaining informed consent and enrolment of participants into study
    • Explaining study procedures to eligible participants
    • Obtains medical history and performs physical examination
    • Offers individual, group and family counseling to participants and patients
    • Confirms eligibility for all study participants
    • Completes interviewer administered questionnaires
    • Conducts protocol specific tests and procedures
    • Providing project management team with regular feedback on field activities
    • Does HIV counseling, testing and lab results interpretation
    • Verify quality of data by comparing abstracted data to source documents
    • Responds to participant’s calls

    Education and Professional training

    • At least Diploma in Nursing (KRN/KRCHN)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • At least 3 years professional experience in epidemiological research relevant to the transmission and/or control of tropical infectious diseases
    • Previous working experience in a multi-disciplinary team including with Ministry of health teams and community health worker teams
    • Strong hands-on experience with current methods of epidemiology surveillance; having worked in a multidisciplinary, multi-site project will be an added advantage
    • Strong supervisory and management skills
    • Ability to work independently, in a timely manner and under minimum supervision
    • Experience working in/with a Public Health Institutions

    Licensure

    • Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya

    Competencies

    • Team player
    • Excellent Communication and people skills
    • Highly organized
    • Ability to work without supervision

    Experience

    • Two (2) years’ experience as a nurse
    • Prior GCP and Human subjects training is desirable
    • Experience working in clinical research setting is an added advantage
