    Registered Nurse III (KRCHN)

    Position summary

    The Nursing officer will work under the overall supervision of the Health facility in-charge or CCC in-charge (where applicable) at the Sub County level with dotted line to TUKICHEKI care and treatment program. He/she will provide comprehensive HIV and TB prevention and treatments service by ensuring program priority indicator target are met on timely basis.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide quality clinical service to HIV patients at the HIV clinic and any other department (TB, MCH and inpatient) including patient counseling, ART treatment preparation, initiation and follow up.
    • Undertake comprehensive clinical evaluation of PLHIV for ART eligibility and non-going care as per national guidelines including requisition for baseline and follow up Laboratory test.
    • Support clinical management of opportunistic infections.
    • Offer integrated prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV (PMTCT)-screening for HIV exposure in children, ART initiation and follow up during ANC and PNC and appropriate follow up of HIV infected children as per the national guidelines.
    • Support integrated TB/ HIV services including
    • TB active case finding and ICF, TB preventive treatment for PLHI
    • Appropriate and timely initiation of TB and ART treatment and follow up and accurately documentation of treatment outcome.
    • Support integrated of the following service in routine HIV care-family planning, cervical cancer screening and referral. PEP and PrEP service.
    • Monitor facility ART cohort growth by ensuring program retention strategies are implemented with fidelity.
    • Support facility rational use of ART and TB commodities through good dispensing practices, stock monitoring, reporting, placing orders and pharmacovigilance.
    • As a technical member of facility service delivery team, participate in implementation of QI projects, preparation, review and submission of reports, multi-disciplinary team meetings, ECHO Zoom meeting and trainings.
    • Actively participate in other service delivery areas and joint facility activities.

    Requirement for Appointment

    • Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
    • Diploma in Nursing (Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse) from a recognized medical institution.
    • Registered with nursing officer’s council and possess a valid practicing license.
    • Over 3 year’s relevant experience in implementing ART and TB programs
    • Competencies in PMTCT adult and pediatric ART, Counseling and testing programs and integrated TB and HIV services are essential.
    • A team player, motivator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
