    Senior Assistant Director, Public Communications: DPP 3

    REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must hare:

    • Served in the grade of Assistant Director, Public Communication DPP 4 OR in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Prirate Sector for a minimum period of Three (3) years;
    • Master's degree in communication, journalism, public relations or social science or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, public relations or social sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Post Graduate Diploma in communications/Public Relations/Journalism for general degree holders;
    • Membership to Public Relations Society of Kenya or any other relevant professional body; Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2o1o; Integrity, Leadership, Honesty, Accountability and Discipline in the service to people.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

    The Senior Assistant Director Public Communication will be responsible to the Director of Public Prosecutions in performing the Public Communication function. Specifically, duties and responsibilities at this level will include:

    • Coordinating the development and implementation of Public Communication policies, standards, systems, strategies and procedures for the Office;
    • Monitoring effectiveness of Public Communication policies, guidelines, procedures and standards;
    • Providing leadership to the ODPP Communications Division;
    • Coordinating the development, implementation and review of the ODPP public Communication, media and customer care strateg,ies in line r,r'ith the orerall ODPP strategic plan;
    • Coordinating the development and implementation of the ODPP internal communications strategy;
    • Coordinating the delelopment and implementation of customer care strategies, procedures and programmes;
    • Coordinating the implementation of the public communication actirities as derived from the ODPP strategic plan;
    • Coordinating the development of standards and regulations in the management of internal and external communications for seamless dissemination of information to all stakeholders;
    • Coordinating the approval of information before dissemination to internal and external stakeholders;
    • Coordinating the development, implementation and revieu' of brand manual and guidelines;
    • Supervising research on various public communication issues in ODPP for informed decision making;
    • Coordinating the development and implementation of the divisional annual work plan and budgets;
    • Monitoring the utilization of the allocated resources;
    • Coaching, mentoring, training and del'elopment of staff in the Divvision;
    • Coordinating customer satisfaction surveys;
    • Supervising content development for the website, digital media pages to update;
    • Facilitating media coverage ofODPP events and activities;
    • Coordinating the designing, printing and dissemination of Information Education Communication (IEC) materials;
    • Enforcing compliance with principles and values of good governance, transparency, accountability, ethics and integrity in compliance with the Constitution; and
    • Supervising the production of documentaries, bulletins and newsletters to sensitize, inform and educate stakeholders and the public on the ODPP mandate.
