    Senior Finance Manager

    The Senior Finance Manager will provide oversight of the Financial Control function in Nigeria, delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining a robust financial control environment, and managing tax and compliance in the region. In addition, the role will also involve developing and implementing financial policy, ensuring compliance with internal policies, legislation, and other regulatory requirements; and providing high-value financial advice to senior management including Partners and Directors. 

    The Senior Finance Manager will report to the EMEA Financial Controller who is based in the UK and indirectly to the Partner overseeing the West Africa region based in Lagos, Nigeria. Furthermore, the successful candidate will directly manage a team of 3. 

    The role will be based in Lagos, Nigeria.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Oversee the general accounting functions including assets and balance sheet management, tax compliance, timely financial reporting, internal controls checks, and audits.
    • Lead the effective management of tax affairs, ensuring compliance with tax regulatory requirements (including withholding tax and Professional standards such as IFRS, IAS, etc.)
    • Act as catalyst focused on driving achievement of both strategic and financial objectives while simultaneously managing end-to-end accounting and tracking against the monthly close calendar as well as preparation of reports.
    • Develop as well as implement clear financial projections for execution, and continually identify opportunities for Control Risks to add value and make a sustained impact.
    • Manage any third parties to which accounting or finance functions have been outsourced. 
    • Support monthly, quarterly and board reporting to ensure there is clarity on the performance of the business. 
    • Plan and organize the work of the finance function to accomplish strategic goals and targets in the most cost-effective and impactful manner possible as well as ensure that each team member is provided with clarity concerning goals and expectations of their role in achieving results, standards and behavior.
    • Support and build the capacity of team members to enable them to give their best e.g. by encouraging and praising good performance, coaching, training, assisting staff to prevent or resolve problems, and providing resources, tools, and equipment.
    • Assist the senior management team in formulating the future direction of the company with both strategic and tactical initiatives. 
    • Find areas of internal inefficiencies and help drive the change needed. 

    Does this sound like you?

    • A recognized accounting qualification, with significant post qualification experience.
    • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, accounting, reporting, financial analysis and planning preferably in IFRS environment culminating in at least 3 years with leadership responsibility for financial management.
    • A deep understanding of the Nigerian financial, legal & tax regulatory environments as well as experience dealing with international accounting and legal frameworks such as IFRS.
    • Strong accounting skills and experience, including management of the general ledger, journal entries, payroll, payables, and balance sheet.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated record of establishing and maintaining collaborative and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to maintain social, organizational and ethical norms in job-related activities and a high degree of integrity in all business decisions.
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead high performing teams and manage external stakeholders.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced - cross matrix organization.
    • Demonstrated ability to innovate and show resilience in face of change or obstacles as well as developing innovative solutions and approaches.
    • Demonstrated risk-calculating skills and ability to evaluate emerging high development impact opportunities that are aligned with Control Risks’ strategy.

    Nice to have

    • Proven experience of working with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations as well as deep knowledge of Advanced Excel functions
    • Change management experience
