    The Fairmont Norfolk is a historic hotel in Nairobi, Kenya and is owned by the luxury hotel chain, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. The hotel has 170 rooms, 4 restaurants, and consists of 5 main blocks, each ranging from 1 to 2 stories high.     Unit Accountant

    Numbers are your life. You will lead the finance department and associated operations such that account management, reporting, and interdepartmental and vendor relations are managed to optimise the hotel's profitability. Ensure that Finance teams are providing month end closing and all other required management reports .Under the responsibility of the Cluster Finance Director you contribute to their perfect reliability and integration. You are not only interested in the present, but also in the future and you are actively involved in new projects.

    What you will be doing:

    Reporting to the Cluster Finance Director, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

    • Work with the Lodge Manager to provide full accurate forecasting and budgeting proposals within the hotel. 
    • Prepare capital reviews as required by the Lodge Manager and/or accounting and finance departments.
    • Develop best practice financial accounting and control procedures and continually review the process and procedures to maximise impact and efficiency.
    • Ensure the balance sheets are a fair reflection of the assets and liabilities of the hotel.
    • Assist the HODS to improve their financial awareness.
    • Work with T & C department on payroll control, payroll budgets and procedures.
    • Initiates, supervises and spot checks all stocks taken of inventories and fixed assets.

    Your experience and skills include:

    • You have a Degree/diploma with a specialization in accounting
    • You’ve gained professional experience in a similar job
    • You stand out due to your independent and organized way of working, as well as your good English skills
    • Financial Accounting/Financial Planning
    • You not only bring your abilities, but also your character
