    Programme Management Officer

    Responsibilities
    Within delegated authority, the Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties:  

    • Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of assigned elements of the Strategic Plan and the annual work programme and budget, etc.; monitors and analyzes development and implementation of the Stretegic Plan and annual workprogramme and budget; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.  
    • Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources. 
    • Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies.  Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes, and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions.    
    • Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. 
    • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.  
    • Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.  
    • Participates in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc.  
    • Coordinates activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.).
    • Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.  
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Education

    • Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, monitoring and evaluation of public policy in human settlements, international development, or a related field is required.
    • A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.  
    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in monitoring and evaluation of public policy, project or programme management, administration or related area is required   
    • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable    
    • Experience in international development dealing with programme management is desirable

    Sustainable Development Officer

    Responsibilities
    Within delegated authority, the Sustainable Development Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Drafts inputs for technical papers and analytical studies on human settlements sustainable development issues.    
    • Formulates, identifies, and analyses proposals for inputs in the Strategic Plan and the annual work programme and budget.    
    • Attends international, regional, and national meetings for consultations with colleagues in other institutions dealing with strategic planning issues.    
    • Assists in the organization and servicing of expert group meetings, seminars, etc. on human settlements sustainable development and strategic planning issues.    
    • Prepares speeches and other inputs for presentations by senior staff on human settlements sustainable development and strategic planning issues.  
    • Prepares inputs for reports to governance and intergovernmental bodies, inter-agency or expert groups on issues relating to human settlements' sustainable development and strategic planning.  
    • Follows intergovernmental meetings, prepares summary reports and provides substantive support, as needed. And participates in missions on sustainable development issues, usually as a member of a team.    Organizes training seminars/ workshops for national experts addressing human settlements sustainable development issues and collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables, and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation, and reporting.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in management, policy-oriented work in a broad range of human settlements sustainable development issues is required    
    • At least five (5) years of experience in developing and/or implementing international sustainable development programmes involving donor community, clients, and civil society groups is required.    
    • Two (2) years or more of experience in strategic planning or related area is desirable.    
    • Experience in the field of capacity development, institutional reform, or training with a focus on sustainable urban development is desirable    
    • Experience in studying issues related to strategies in sustainable development is desirable

    Urban Mobility and Street Design Assistant

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Project individual contractor will assist the work of the Urban Mobility Team in the Urban Basic Services Section by providing the following:

    • Support capacity building efforts in the fields of road safety, active mobility, inclusive and accessible public transport;
    • Coordinate data collection, surveys and street audits as inputs for street design review processes in partner cities;
    • Coordinate the provision of technical advise on street designs for Nairobi City County Government;
    • Support the Safe Routes to School initiative by conducting research, organizing workshops, and fostering stronger stakeholder partnerships;
    • Organise public events, workshops, discussion platforms to strengthen stakeholder engagement and collaboration between government, civil society, academia, transport operators, development banks, consulting firms and private sector in the field of sustainable urban mobility;
    • Contribute to research endeavors and the creation of knowledge materials, emphasizing sustainable, inclusive, and low-carbon urban mobility;
    • Support the implementation of the Trans-Safe project.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • High School Diploma is required.
    • A university degree in urban development related issues is an added advantage.
    • Initial working experience (at least 1 year) in the field of sustainability, international affairs or urban development is required. An understanding of international affairs and development, urban policy and legislation and sustainability is required.
    • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
    • The ability to draft a wide selection of written communication and to articulate ideas in a clear and concise manner. Research skills are an asset. Good interpersonal skills, previous exposure to cross cultural environments is advantageous.
    • Ability to work well in a team whilst also having the capacity and initiative to work independently is required.
