Job Purpose Statement

The Data Scientist is responsible for advising the business on the potential of data, to provide new insights into the business’s mission, and through the use of advanced statistical analysis, data mining, and data visualization techniques, to create solutions that enable enhanced business performance. The Data Scientist also plays a leading role in the management of:

• Build econometric and statistical models for various problems inclusive of projections, classification, clustering, pattern analysis, sampling and simulations
• Build the foundation of state-of-the-art scientific and technical capabilities within the Data Science department in order to support several planned and ongoing data analytics projects.
• Provide forward-thinking recommendations to the business by building in-depth understanding of the problem domain and available business data assets, especially those pertaining to strategic initiatives and value-based programs
• Execute ad-hoc data mining and exploratory statistics tasks on large data-sets related to the business 'strategies.
• Generate actionable insights applying advanced statistical techniques, for example, predictive statistical models, segmentation analysis, customer profiling, analysis, survey design, and data
• mining
• Collaborate with senior data scientists to communicate obstacles and findings to relevant stakeholders in an effort to improve decision-making and drive business performance.

Academic:

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Economics, or any other related quantitative field. Working experience of the equivalent is also acceptable for this position. 

Professional:

• Big Data or Data Science certification from recognized institutions

Desired work experience:

• At least 3 years of working experience working with business analysis/informatics and business outcomes research within a fast-paced and complex business setting, preferably working as support data scientist junior support personnel.
• Experience working in probability and statistics, time-series analysis, or econometrics as well as experience in the use of machine learning methods, for example, linear regression,
• decision tress, and so forth. Experience as well as in-depth knowledge of the Python programming language, SAS Enterprise Miner and substantial knowledge of big dataplatforms such as Aster and Hadoop.

Job Purpose Statement

To develop technical solutions to problems and opportunities presented by the Business. Functional and non-functional aspects of the technical solutions should be considered utilizing the available technology assets. The role will act as the technical lead for major system projects and will provide technical direction and proposals to meet the new business requirements or cover an existing functionality gap.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

• Translate documented business requirements into functional and non-functional technical requirements for development/implementation.
• Work with business and all technical teams with an interest in the design of the solutions to ensure they are easy to operate and maintain while keeping in line to NCBA’s security standards.
• Support project management- Provide technical oversight on projects and ensure that requirements are in alignment with business strategies and business architecture roadmap/framework
• Translate strategic initiatives into delivery-focused change initiatives, while translating business processes and issues into effective conceptual and logical models.
• Independently manage conflict among diverse cross portfolio stakeholders related to competing interests and requirements. Able to help stakeholders 

Job Specification:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field of study from a recognized university.
• At least one certification from the following CBAP, TOGAF, ITIL Foundation or Design Thinking and Innovation.
• At least 3 years background in software development inclusive of databases, applications, infrastructure, cloud technologies.
• Experience in software development lifecycle management using waterfall, agile & hybrid methodologies.
• Proven track record in designing and implementing mass market complex projects within the financial services industry.
• Ability to communicate and influence even in ambiguous environments with no formal authority.
• Familiarity with DevOps, Agile working and CICD
• Excellent planning and organizational skills with ability to breakdown complex items to actionable elements.

JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Application Developer is a role within the Technology team responsible for the design, development, deployment, and support of mobile, web, desktop and server business solutions that support NCBA’s digital business goals. The position requires solid knowledge of Mobile, web, desktop & server (orchestration layer) technologies. The role holder should be able to deliver across the entire development life cycle from concept, design, build, deploy, test, release to app stores and support. This is a role that requires prototyping skills, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of an agile team, to manage competing priorities, design solutions as part of a larger roadmap and to be hands on in supporting implemented technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & PERCENTAGE (%) TIME SPENT

• The effective execution of the role’s responsibilities should enhance the NCBA brands by delivering on the below key responsibilities.
• The design/analysis, development, delivery, and ongoing improvement of all Application development processes (40%)
• Apply knowledge and experience, showing deep understanding of Application Developmen Standards to assist business and product teams develop products that solve business needs (20%)
• Adherence to internal policies and procedures for the development and management of NCBA Application Development process along ITIL and other best practice standards (10%)
• Support, maintain and audit existing service lifecycle artifacts, to agreed SLAs (10%)
• Effective management of relationships and protocols with other technical platform owners and internal business owners (10%)
• Advise internal customers on technology improvements that will ensure realization and maximization of business objectives (10%)

MAIN ACTIVITIES

• Analysis, design, testing and integration of the banks Internal Software Applications from definition stage through to implementation.
• Enforce internal policies and procedures for the management of Software Applications along ITIL and other best practices.
• Apply knowledge of key technologies/concepts/platforms e.g HTML5, angular JS, Vue JS, Design Patterns, Human Centered Design, Android and IOS Platforms.
• Ensure availability of services within the agreed SLAs.
• Work with business and product development to develop functional and technical requirements and propose solutions to address these requirements.
• Effective management of relationships and protocols with 3rd party partners involved in service delivery.
• Provide general technical advice and guidance to users and stakeholders regarding Software Applications developed in house.
• Execute assigned work packages in IT projects within agreed time and budget constraints.
• Make efficient use of source control and bug tracking systems
• Provide technical insight on existing web & mobile platforms to improve performance, availability and utilization optimizations.
• Performs research and development to evaluate emerging technologies and their potential to optimize the platform.
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability and general reliability
• Monitor and manage service user complaints to ensure maintenance of the highest standards ofservice.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• An undergraduate degree or its equivalent in a Technology related field i.e., Computer science, Information Technology, Software engineering.
• 5 years within a large highly digitized environment designing, implementing, and managing mission critical systems, with at least 2 years actively developing applications.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience of the following:
  • Application back-end development using Oracle Database, SQL, PL/SQL
  • Application/Web Server experience with WebLogic, JBoss, Apache, express
  • Hands on experience developing software development using Java, C, C++, C#, Python
  • Hands on experience developing Android, IOS, Windows Mobile and Hybrid mobile applications.
  • Hands on experience in Web Development (AngularJS, NodeJS, Asp.Net) and Web Servers (Apache, Tomcat, IIS and Nginx)
• Automated Testing tools e.g., espresso, robotium, protractor
• Continuous build/Integration tools e.g., Jenkins/Bamboo
• Issue/bug tracking tools e.g., JIRA
• Working Knowledge of Unix or Linux Operating systems e.g., Solaris, Cent OS
• Experience and Knowledge of Shell scripting in Unix or Linux environment as well as Windows
• Basic Oracle and SQL Server Database Administration

Job Purpose Statement

The role of the Product Analyst is to research the target market segments and liaise with product manager to implement the defined customer value propositions that serve the needs of the target market. This role shall be involved in the coordination of technical delivery teams and external stakeholders in implementing product roadmaps.

Key Result Areas

Product Development 75% 

• Build an effective roadmap to prioritize important features properly.
• Take high-level feature proposals and customer problems and break them into small iterations that engineering can work on through use cases documentation and mockups for proposed customer journeys.
• Balance new features, improvements, and bugfixes to ensure a high velocity and a stable product.

Ideal Job Specifications

• At least 1 years’ work experience, as Product Analyst in a similar sized organisation having led successful product development projects and/or initiatives.
• 1 years’ experience in digital payments and Digital financial services is desirable but not mandatory.
