    Data Architect Lead

    DESCRIPTION

    We are pleased to announce the following opportunity in the Digital IT within the Technology Division.   In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

     Brief description

    Reporting to Enterprise Architecture Lead, the position holder will be responsible for shaping and implementing strategic products to ensure that organization technology stays on the leading edge to best serve our firm and our clients.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Identify, analyze, and direct the execution of change towards a cloud first approach for all IT workloads.
    • Define overall principles guiding all designs and operations of data in cloud.
    • Definition of strategy, roadmaps and support evolution of data to cloud.
    • Definition of data strategy and translating business needs into data architecture deliverables and artifacts.
    • Data solution design providing oversight and guidance related to data design and usage
    • Design and development for enterprise data initiatives across multiple platform types (operational, analytical, and reporting).
    • Cascade, train, monitor and report on cloud practices across the enterprise.
    • Define and manage a cloud operating model and roadmap in alignment with the Digital Insights blueprint and Tech 2025.
    • Oversee and lead the strategy, design, modelling, and deployment of data architectures, standards, and frameworks.
    • Scout new cloud technologies and vendors to enable innovation and identify technical enablers
    • Manage data architecture and establish the capability to monitor new cloud technology developments and trends in the industry
    • Build, recruit, retain, manage and develop a world-class cloud architecture team and organization
    • Provide thought leadership on foundational cloud architecture best practices and disruptive technology trajectory and implications
    • Establish data center of excellence spanning both private and public cloud as well as able to offer guidance to Telco cloud.
    • Oversee and Lead technical briefings, proof of concepts and architectural design sessions

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Post Graduate Masters Business Administration or similar, or other related field
    • 5 or more years of experience in at least three disciplines, such as business, information, solution or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations in a multitier environment
    • 5 or more years of experience in data management with prior experience leading/managing data teams
    • Extensive experience in IT strategic planning, organization design and development
    • Experience in leading large architecture teams in an agile context, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts
    • Experience in business and data modelling.
    • Experience in the cloud and on-prem integration solution and Data governance tools like Data Integrator, Enterprise Data Quality, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue.
    • Experience building data pipelines for machine learning, model development/testing and deployment to containers
    • Professional experience and knowledge of cloud both public and private, digital and Telecommunications industries strongly preferred.
    • Enterprise Architecture certification is an added advantage.

    M-Pesa Africa - HR Business Partner

    Role Description

    M-Pesa Africa is a separate entity, formed as a joint venture between Vodacom and Safaricom, working within the scaled agile framework (SAFe). You will perform all aspects of the HR Business Partner role; support the business area in the execution of HR processes, including but not limited to Resourcing, Performance Management, Culture & Engagement, Talent management, Reward & Recognition, and the annual budget process.

    The role combines partnering with leaders in a defined business area with proactively managing wider people projects as part of M-Pesa Africa’s people strategy. Working together with the EHOD M-Pesa HR, you will support the definition and delivery of the HR agenda for the designated business function and continually challenge the function to make the right decisions for the business, instigating and managing transformation projects that improve organization, team and individual effectiveness.

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Apply if you have:

    • Bachelor’s Degree and Higher National Diploma in HRM or CHRP-K
    • Breadth of knowledge and business acumen typically obtained from a total of 4-5 years’ work experience in a large commercial organization of which 3-4 years should be within the HR function directly in, or closely supporting, executive and/or line operations
    • Agile, innovative, pragmatic, commercial, and customer-focused approach
    • Proven track record of managing programme / project management (including the coordination of multiple internal and external resources)
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word and Excel software
    • Knowledge of / exposure to relevant employment legislation (e.g. data protection)
    • Understanding of Labor laws related across different regions.
    • CIPD/IHRM qualifications (or equivalent)
    • SAFe Agile experience and qualifications an advantage
