    THE APPLICATION PROCESS

    Stage 1: Online Application

    Stage 2: Technical Assessment

    Once you submit your application, you’ll be directed to study the modules on their website for software development and team skills. This is required to complete a technical assessment that will evaluate your knowledge of the content you’ve learned. No prior coding experience is required.  

    Stage 3: In-Person Interview

    Based on your application and technical assessment, you may be invited to a panel of interviews made up of staff members and developers at an Andela office.

    Stage 4: Attend a Bootcamp

    Successful candidates are invited to participate in a two-week, simulated development sprint led by senior Andela developers. The two weeks is comprised of one week of home-based self-learning, and one week of product development on-site at an Andela campus. You’ll be expected to learn independently as well as on a team to deliver a final project. We’re looking for work ethic, passion, and teamwork.

    Stage 5: Become an Andelan

    The highest performing participants are accepted into Andela’s four-year Fellowship Program. Over the course of four years, you’ll be immersed in intensive learning alongside some of Africa’s most brilliant minds. You’ll amass real work experience as part of global engineering teams.     Curriculum Director

    About the Department:

    Andela’s Talent Development department creates the required programs, curriculum, facilitation, and partnerships that ensure our developers meet Andela’s “developer specifications” in a timely, efficient, scalable manner.

    Andela’s curriculum team supports that mission by defining and supporting effective, evidence-based Learning Paths that ensure developers are qualified for Global Technology positions. The curriculum team leverages the expertise of our community and data from our Partner contexts to ensure Andela’s Curriculum prepares developers to thrive on top technology teams.

    About the role:

    The Director of Curriculum is an engineering and learning leader, responsible for setting the vision, implementing the strategy, and leading the team to deliver high-impact curriculum initiatives. They are accountable for the efficacy, usability, engagement, and scalability of the global curriculum for developers of all levels.

    Responsibilities:

    Create a clear, effective, scalable Learner Journey

    • Set curriculum strategy for all phases of Talent Development Pipeline to ensure that the learner journey is streamlined, clear, and covers all the appropriate skills
    • Lead team to create a multiple, personalized pathways into and through Andela
    • Ensure the provision of well-defined and robustly supported paths to advancement based on the strategy & priorities of each unit
    • Ensure full coverage of pathways to technology roles at Andela; prioritize which pathways are of the highest importance
    • Liaise closely with Director, Learning Technology to implement curriculum as a “tool” that achieves a desired learner outcome

    Incorporation of Market Feedback:

      • Manage feedback loop with Revenue, Talent, and Success teams to take in and act on partner feedback
      • Use data & expertise to prioritize the creation of learning materials that effectively increase developer performance in the most critical partner contexts
      • Collaborate closely with VP, Product, to support the creation of curriculum pathways that enable our developers to meet and exceed our product specifications

    Team Management:

    • Set and create accountability around the team strategy, roadmap and KPI’s
    • Design, hire, and retain a world-class team capable of meeting and exceeding the divisions KPIs and initiatives
    • Ensure consistent reporting on core divisional metrics including but not limited to curriculum quality (NPS) and efficacy (developer performance)

    Qualifications:

    • Experienced professional with 3-5 years of direct management experience
    • Minimum of 5 years in development/ Software engineering / Product Management role
    • A background in learning & development in any form (teaching, curriculum development, management, learning operations, etc)
    • A doer who is self-motivated and proactive, obsessed with detail and quality, and personally offended by mediocrity.
    • An open communicator who takes ownership of deliverables, communicates ideas, and tests their efficacy with an analytical mindset.
    • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
    • Able to thrive on a diverse, globally distributed team

    Director of Compensation & Benefits

    About the Role

    Andela is seeking a Compensation & Benefits Director to oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of   company-wide compensation and benefits programs. To be successful in this role, the right candidate will bring extensive knowledge and experience in building equitable compensation programs across multiple African countries.  As a key operational and thought partner to our leadership in the People team, you will play a crucial role in shaping total rewards for a fast-growing, world class organization. The role reports into the Vice President, People.

    Key Responsibilities of the Role

    • Oversees the development and execution of a comprehensive & standardised compensation structure across all functions, regions and levels within the organization, inclusive of base pay, variable pay programs, sales incentives, long and short term incentive plans, stock options  and executive compensation.
    • Liaises with Legal Team and Advisors on all legal issues relating to compensation & benefits.  Maintains a working knowledge of local laws, custom and practice influencing compensation and benefits.
    • Provides relevant data and recommendations to guide decision-making related to compensation, org structure, attrition, promotions and other people related activities. Analyze trends in the business, economy and employment marketplace to identify issues and opportunities to enhance global workforce planning strategies. Continual benchmarking on best in class within the industry.
    • Facilitates the process of job evaluation and salary surveys, advises on salary budgets, and prepares policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of equitable and competitive employee compensation.
    • Monitors and evaluates the company's benefits programs including: insurance programs, retirement plans, sick leave, time off and vacation policies. Ensuring our benefits are:
      • Are globally aligned but locally relevant/effective
      • Are cost-effective
      • Have some flexibility built to ensure that we are able to adapt to changing external and internal realities
      • Consistently applied as appropriate
      • Do not expose us to undue risks.
    • Ensures compensation programs are current with regard to trends, practices and costs.
    • Ensuring all regional and local People/HR staff have the training required to adequately support global compensation, benefit and reward programs.
    • Responsible for managing vendor performance and relationships as it relates Global Compensation and Benefits Programs to ensure all performance commitments are satisfied and that Andela is receiving a high level of service. Some of such vendor may include vendors that provide benchmarking service, technology tools, Global benefit administration partners, Payroll management & PEO organization etc.
    • Management, mentorship, and growth of all People/HR staff within their span of control.

    Requirements

    • Progressive global HR experience with emphasis on Compensation & Benefits
    • A passion for data-driven, People-centric and business oriented compensation philosophy & practices.
    • Experience within a remuneration and compensation environment in some of the countries where Andela operates in Africa is essential
    • Ability to create effective working partnerships with key stakeholders and to use these to create and implement people and organisation-related business plans that support the achievement of business goals and objectives.
    • Experience in a challenging, dynamic and complex business environment with a special focus on multiculturalism (and internationalism).
    • Meaningful  professional experience in HR with a focus on Compensation and Benefits in a leadership role
    • Ability to quickly build trust with staff, vendors, and partners.
    • Ability to interact with diplomacy, tact and follow-up on requests in a  timely and efficient manner. Must exhibit high levels of professionalism and integrity at all times..
    • Knowledge of in-country employment regulations, e.g. Country labor/employee relations statutes and capacity to apply them to Andela. Ability to accommodate local labour laws   Global practices/policies as required.

    Finance Planning and Reporting Coordinator

    About the Role

    The financial planning and reporting (FP&R) is a newly created function within FP&A team. The FP&R team will be responsible for implementing new planning tools and systems and for maintaining efficient reporting for the company operating model. The FP&R team will also be a key driver in understanding financial variances vs. budget and other benchmarks. Andela is looking for a highly skilled and motivated coordinator to join the FP&R team. Working with the senior manager, the coordinator will provide FP&R support for the business globally. The FPR coordinator should demonstrate a proven track record and work in a fast–paced corporate finance environment. They should be able to adapt to change on a regular basis and deliver quick and accurate reports at the corporate and divisional levels. Further, they should be able to gather and interpret complex financial data, be an avid problem solver with a strong interest in building tools to support business processes. In doing this, they should be able to collaborate with key parties across the business to incorporate all relevant information into financial plans & report to allow him/her highlight actionable insights and perspectives, identify business trends, and recommend action plans for core functions supporting the organization.

    Specific Key Responsibilities

    • Working with senior manager and rest of FP&A team, developing and manage financial systems/models
    • Design advanced analytics and develop new processes and tools to deliver impactful and actionable insights that drive decision making
    • Generating monthly variance and KPI report for the group and share with functional leads/global leads
    • Generating insightful reports to determine opportunities within the reported financial data including developing key financial dashboards for the group. In doing this the FP&R coordinator should be able to identify and report on major trends and recommend action plans
    • Build and nurture strong working relationships with other team members and functional heads
    • Engage and collaborate with other teams across the region and beyond on ad hoc projects and modelling
    • Support the annual planning cycle and mid period forecasting for the group

    Role requirements

    • Minimum 1 - 2 year of experience in finance, with a strong mix of finance & accounting
    • Experience using or implementing complex financial reporting tools
    • Experience in programming , a plus
    • Demonstrated strong collaboration skills and drive to learn
    • Qualification in finance or accounting (CPA/CFA/ACCA/ Undergrad)
    • Legally eligible to work in Kenya
