Job description
Wärtsilä Eastern Africa Ltd has an existing O&M Contract with KenGen up to March 2021 for the 120 MW Kipevu III Power Plant in Mombasa, Kenya.
WEA is looking for an Operator for Kipevu III Power Plant whose main responsibilities includes the following;
- Operate and maintain the plant during the shift according to company policies and procedures.
- You will provide the relieving Shift Operator with a complete handover, bringing to his attention any operational disturbances, malfunctions or abnormalities.
- You will be required to maintain plant power production at the output designated by management & operate the plant within the acceptable loading envelope under plant dispatch directives from utility.
- In your role, you will work closely with the Shift Supervisor.
- Recommend and make changes to the existing standard plant operating procedures.
Position description -Operate and maintain the plant during the shift according to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain plant power production at the output designated by management. Operate the plant within the acceptable loading envelope under plant dispatch directives from utility.
- Assist in start-up, shut-down and normal operations of the power plant systems.
- Complete and maintain all logs and running records in a clear and concise manner according to guidelines.
- Responsible for taking corrective action during system operational disturbance and/or bringing such disturbances to the attention of the Operations Supervisor.
- Effectively communicate the condition of the plant equipment and performance to shift charge and fellow plant personnel.
- Responsible for maintaining the plant in a clean and safe condition at all times.
- Perform emergency procedures in order to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or failure of safety deficiencies.
- Utilize all tools, equipment, and accessories in such a manner so as to maximize useful operating life.
- Provide the relieving Shift Operator with a complete handover, bringing to his attention any operational disturbances, malfunctions or abnormalities.
- To perform planned and corrective maintenance as directed and as needed and to account for all parts and materials, supplies and fluids used in the performance of that work.

Wärtsilä Eastern Africa - Kipevu III Power Plant (Mombasa) is looking for a Mechanical Technician with the following duties and responsibilities, skills and qualifications;
- You will be responsible for Mechanical maintenance of the Plant.
- You are expected to be able to troubleshoot mechanical defiance on various equipment and machinery.
- In your role, you are to comply with all safety regulations including isolation, lock out and tag out.
- You will be responsible for maintaining the machines and auxiliary equipment in good clean conditions.
- In your role you are to work closely with the mechanical supervisor.
Position description - Be able to carry out minor repair, preventive and corrective maintenance to mechanical plant equipment and auxiliaries.
- Responsible for reporting operational disturbance and/or taking corrective action when directed to do so.
- Effectively communicate the condition of plant equipment and performance to the mechanical supervisor & concerned plant personnel.
- Perform emergency procedures in order to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or failure of safety deficiencies.
- Be able to read pressure and temperature indicators such as manometers, thermometers, digital panels and to measure with their specific measuring equipment.
- Maintaining the plant in clean and safe conditions at all times.
- Utilize all tools in such a manner so as to maximize their useful operating life.
- Account for all parts and materials and supplies used in the performance of work.
- Perform any other duties assigned from time to time by the supervisor
