    Project Assistant (Department of Paediatrics)

    Responsibilities

    • Organize and manage project logistics as directed by the research coordinator
    • Facilitate project procurement needs by raising necessary requisition documents and ensuring that the necessary approvals are timely obtained.
    • Follow up with all approving departments on requisitions made and ensure timely delivery of expected outcomes
    • Handle all project dispatch as and when need arises and follow up for confirmation of delivery
    • Facilitate allowance for government staff attending project meetings
    • Raise project travel logs indicating travel/transport requirements monthly
    • Receive, sort and route communication as may be directed by the Research coordinator
    • Assist the administrative officer in receiving project guests and directing them appropriately,
    • Scheduling and monitoring all appointments/meetings
    • Assist in organizing for seminars, workshops, training sessions and performing support roles during the sessions
    • Assist the administrative officer in ensuring proper filing and documentation of all relevant materials.
    • Assist the administrative officer in updating and managing filing index
    • Update mail/phone directories
    • Routinely advice the research coordinator on need for re-ordering department supplies

     Requirements

    • Must hold a Diploma in Business Administration/Communication or supply chain management
    • Have at least 3 years of relevant experience in similar work
    • Be proficient in computers applications, particularly MS Office Suite
    • Any other relevant training in office administration will be a distinct advantage.
    • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Show demonstrated initiative; ability to set goals and priorities and work effectively with minimum supervision
    • Be able to work flexible/long hours if and when required
    • Be able to maintain strict confidentiality

    Research Nurse (Department of Paediatrics)

    Responsibilities

    • Grant proposal development literature gathering, site preparation data collecting and compiling.
    • Monitoring eligibility study participants under guidance from local and international collaborators
    • Collecting data from study participants using guided procedures
    • Consenting, administering and follow up of informed consents/study documents from caregivers and Health Care Providers.
    • Computer data entry and cleaning under guidance from local and international collaborators
    • Support in training of study procedures
    • Secured storage of study materials
    • Supporting clinical teams in routine services for newborn care skills development
    • Routinely advice the research coordinator on need for re-ordering department supplies

    Requirements

    • Should hold a Diploma in Nursing (KRN/M or KRCHN) from an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Should have current license with the Kenya Nursing Council
    • Should be EPLS certified.
    • Be competent in use of Ms-office applications
    • Working skills with Ms-Excel or other data software will be added advantage
    • Have a minimum of 6 months cumulative nursing experience; including newborn care
    • GCP qualification and experience with research databases will be an added advantage

    Lab Technologist (Haematology)

    Responsibilities

    • Receive and analyze Haematology/special Haematology specimens.
    • Maintain appropriate internal controls in Haematology/special Haematology to ensure validity of reports.
    • Manage routine and planned preventive maintenance of equipment in Haematology.
    • Perform tests with maximum efficiency ensuring maximum utilization of reagents and time following laid down standard operating procedures.
    • Communicate urgent/critical/abnormal test results within recommended period of time and maintain appropriate documentation.
    • Observe/comply with Health & Safety requirements in the laboratory by maintaining high standards of hygiene and general cleanliness in the work area.
    • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
    • Participate in continuous medical education
    • Receive specimens for Immunohaematology and carry out appropriate testing observing internal quality checks to ensure validity of test results.
    • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures in Haematology and Immuno-haematology.
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor or designee.

     Requirements

    • Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • Registration with Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board is mandatory;
    • Minimum 3 (three) years’ working experience;
    • Demonstrable computer literacy;
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
    • Positive attitude towards work and other members of the team;
    • Ability to work under pressure;
    • Unquestionable integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Professional attitude and strong work ethic with attention to timeliness.
