    Research Analyst

    Job Purpose Statement

    The role of the research analyst is to conduct fundamental and technical analysis of various asset classes and investment products using various available tools. Additionally, he/she will conduct primary macro-economic research especially as it relates to these asset classes and make recommendations to retail and institutional investors in order to support the investment decision-making process.

    Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

    Financial 65% 

    • Maintain a corporate action diary of quoted and unquoted companies.
    • Build and maintain valuation models for listed and unlisted entities.
    • Analyse financial information to produce forecasts of economic and industry conditions for use in making investment decisions.
    • Undertake fundamental analysis on listed equities securities.
    • Initiate and maintain fixed income analysis.
    • Maintain ongoing engagement with senior management of listed entities to ensure reports are insightful and current.
    • Conduct retail and institutional investor conference calls to discuss/market reports, as a result generate revenue.
    • Ensure quality and product acceptability is maintained

    Internal business processes 10% 

    • Ensure that all research carried out complies with all the relevant internal and external rules, regulations, policies and procedures
    • Communicate all relevant and critical information to management in a timely and effective manner and in compliance with the company, NSE & CMA procedures.

    Customer 20% 

    • Ensure that Customer Service Standards are complied with and met at all times.
    • Ensure turnaround times for research reports are met.
    • Ensure customer complaints are dealt with expeditiously and conclusively in the first instance.

    • Ensures compliance with the CMA and ICIFA annual Continuous Professional Development requirements Achieves at least 40 hours of training annually

    Academic & Professional

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or any other relevant degree from a recognized University.
    • CISI II certification.
    • ICIFA associate membership.
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
    • Knowledgeable in the use of Bloomberg.

    Desired work experience:

    • At least 2 years’ experience in the role of a research analyst in investment banking or asset management.

    Assistant Manager, Control Assurance and Quality Review

    Job Purpose Statement

    The purpose of this role is to perform internal controls reviews in order to ensure adherence to established procedures and controls and to identify process improvements in the bank’s operations units and branches contributing to maintaining a strong control environment. The role involves monitoring any open control issues and ensuring they are closed satisfactorily within the set deadlines preventing crystallization of losses and highlighting to senior management all concerns arising from failure of controls that could result in potential or actual losses.

    Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

    Management 70%

    • On a continual basis, carry out control assessments within branches, operations and technology and provide assurance to the line management on the effectiveness of the
    • controls assessments across the Group
    • Carrying out end-to-end process reviews throughout branches, operations and technology units within Kenya and subsidiaries giving assurance that units are adhering to set
    • policies and procedures.
    • Identify and communicate internal control risk through the collection and analysis of internal control evidence.
    • Tracking exceptions highlighted during the reviews to ensure they are closed satisfactorily within the set time frames.
    • Pursue the development of effective controls by deploying continuous improvement techniques and partner with the business to determine the appropriate key control activities. Focusing on preventive controls and continuous improvement as well as detective controls.
    • Collect data to identify root cause of problems, identify trends, formulate solutions and escalate potential issues as necessary.
    • Ensure timely review and resolution of Segregation of Duties violation (dual control) recommended in regard to mitigating risks.
    • Own the timely closure of findings raised by internal Audit and External Audit across the division.
    • Work with the teams in Technology and Operations to ensure the identified gaps and risks have been mitigated.
    • As a subject matter expert, provide guidance on control issues to all the business units
    • Compile periodic internal control reports and returns.
    • Monthly independent surprise Cash Counts for all Branches and Compilation of the Report.
    • Conduct quarterly surprise cash count at outsourced cash centres
    • Assess regularly existing business key controls against the risk control expectations to assess the level of control effectiveness, efficiency and relevance in risk mitigation.
    • Report risk events, policy deviations, risk exceptions, and engage appropriate stakeholders on timely remedial actions; escalate key risk situations that pose significant risk.
    • Raise queries on suspicious or fraudulent
    • transactions and ensure there are no
    • outstanding items beyond set business rules.
    • Collaborate with unit heads and leadership within operations and technology on risks Assistant Manager, Control Assurance and Quality Review identified as part of the control assurance exit process
    • preparation of UFA confirmation letters to customers and handling UFA-related queries

    Process Improvements 30% 

    • Participate in process reviews and support process improvement initiatives to ensure appropriate controls are implemented as well as carry trainings and awareness sessions within the group.
    • Actively participate in the deployment and review of policies, procedures, business process, and system implementation ensuring that proper controls are embedded.
    • Train the 'Process owners' and 'Control owners' on concepts related to risks, controls and specific operating processes
    • Use SLA measurement tools to continually evaluate quality of all business support processes with the aim of enhancing performance and productivity

    Academic:

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University

    Professional Qualifications:

    • Proficient in computer skills
    • A good understanding of all core processes and knowledge of regulatory and statutory requirements
    • A risk, compliance or audit related professional qualification as an added advantage

    Desired work experience:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Banking, with 3 years in Bank Operations or risk

    Robotics Process Automation Developer

    Job Purpose Statement

    This position is responsible for designing, developing and implementing innovative RPA solutions that can enhance business productivity and maximize efficiency. It also involves understanding the business and its challenges, functionally outlining a solution to the identified use cases and then developing the required solutions

    Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

    Financial 10% 

    • Analyze business processes and workflows with the objective of finding out how they can be improved or automated to save on cost.
    • Manage cost cutting initiatives to adhere to the set Business process budget

    Internal business processes 60% 

    • Analyze new process automation candidates, quickly assessing feasibility and accurately estimate development effort
    • Configure new processes and objects using core workflow principles that are efficient, well structured, maintainable and easy to understand
    • Apply RPA workflow design best practices when developing or maintaining workflows
    • Create and document test cases for negative scenarios, in order to document workflow behavior when certain systems malfunction, as well as performance scenarios, in order to stress test systems behavior
    • Review workflows developed by other RPA Developers to ensure compliance with internal control / security / audit requirements
    • Support the operational teams by staging and deploying automation solutions into test and production environments and providing post-production support.
    • Provide maintenance to production workflows by ensuring second level support for workflow incidents; investigate reported errors, agree on error severity and propose resolution
    • For workflow support tasks, respect SLAs agreed with business for workflow downtime
    • Report issues to third level support (RPA vendor) if incidents cannot be solved by the internal team; ensure development fix, unit testing and production deployment preparation

    Manager, SOC

    Job Purpose Statement

    This role is responsible for the continuous monitoring of technology assets for security incidents that impacts on confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems across the Bank. This role will drive the overall security monitoring and incident response program of the Bank, including implementation of policies and procedures on security monitoring and incident response, by putting in place the appropriate people, processes and technology. This role will also be responsible for security incident response, for effective response, containment and recovery from security incidents or breaches.

    Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

    Security Monitoring 40% 

    • Primarily responsible for leading and managing a SOC team, and ensuring that security incidents are correctly identified, analysed, defended, investigated, and reported.
    • Monitor and analyse activity on networks, servers, endpoints, databases, applications, websites, and other systems, looking for anomalous activity that could be indicative of a security incident or compromise.
    • Perform threat management & threat modelling, identify threat vectors and develop use cases for security monitoring.
    • Ensure continuous integration of logs from technology assets into the SIEM to meet the security use cases.

    Incident Response 30% 

    • Manage the cyber incident response plan
    • Respond to incidents in accordance with the incident response plan
    • Effective communication and escalation during incident response.
    • Focal point of contact for cyber incidents.
    • Continuous improvement of the response plan

    Information Security Policies & Procedures 20% 

    • Develop and maintain the required Information Security policies, procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in relation to the SOC and incident response, to strengthen the current Security Operations.
    • Develop regular metrics, dashboards and reports for SOC operations for various stakeholders (IT Leadership, Senior Management)

    Ideal Job Specifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security or related field required
    • 5+ years’ Technical Experience in a busy IT Environment with good understanding of all fields of IT and an appreciation for emerging technologies
    • Relevant certifications in Information Security knowledge areas, such as security monitoring, threat intelligence, Information Security Management and Ethical Hacking.
    • Experience in security device management, and in SIEM, IPS/IDS, DLP, Active Directory and other security technologies.
    • In-depth familiarity with security policies based on industry standards and best practices
    • Strong knowledge of technical infrastructure including operating systems, networks, databases, middleware etc., to address the threats against these technologies
    • Strong Knowledge of: End Point Security, Internet Policy Enforcement, Firewalls, Web Content Filtering, Database Activity Monitoring (DAM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP),
    • Identity and Access Management (IAM)
    • Proficient in reports, dashboards and documentation preparation.
