    Audit Specialist – Global Assurance

    Audit Specialist – Global Assurance

    The role holder will primarily be focussed on the delivery of the internal audit plan for SCI and, where necessary, for other Save the Children Member organisations. They will be expected to confidently and capably act as the lead for, or be part of, a team delivering high quality, outcomes-focussed internal audit assignments, reviews, investigations and other work assigned to them to agreed professional standards and stakeholder expectations, on time and within budget. Where required, they will be expected to work closely with other assurance providers within Save the Children and external co-sourced providers such as consultants and professional services firms.

    They will be expected to produce high quality, value-adding audit reports and other products. Leading by example, they will also be expected to maintain strong professional relationships across the organisation, working in real partnership with their team and across the business, ensuring that they keep up-to-date with changes and events that have a significant impact on the risk profile of actual as well as potential assignments. The role holder will also be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of any Global Assurance improvement plans.

    In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

    Essential 

    • Be a qualified internal auditor (IIA) or accountant
    • Have 3-5 years of experience in relevant operational areas (e.g. in programme/project management in an INGO context) and be willing to learn the appropriate audit skills
    • Have relevant experience in operational areas of risk to which Save the Children – primarily SCI – is exposed.
    • Experience of conducting risk-based reviews of systems and processes (with a sound understanding of the three lines of defence model), identifying weaknesses and areas of improvements with minimum supervision and support.
    • A demonstrable ability to focus on key issues, enabling auditees to focus on crucial matters of control and oversight.
    • Be highly accurate, detail-orientated, and able to complete multiple projects, with conflicting priorities, on a timely basis.
    • Have strong experience in producing high quality effective written communication e.g. reports, in English; and have exceptional communication skills and is able to articulate effectively at all levels.
    • Have strong interpersonal communication and coaching skills including a demonstrable ability to deliver difficult messages with tact and confidence.
    • Be willing to undertake high amount of travel overseas and work with minimum supervision under difficult conditions in some of the most fragile, insecure and remote parts of the world.
    • Have a strong cultural awareness and be able to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures; and be able to demonstrate standards of ethics and integrity.
    • Be committed to Save the Children’s values.
    • Have experience of evaluating systems and processes, identifying weaknesses and areas of improvements
    • Have extensive experience in relevant operational areas (e.g. in programme/project management in an INGO context) and be willing to learn the appropriate audit skills

    Desired

    • Have INGO experience or have worked in a commercial/public sector international organisation 
    • Have some experience of grant requirements of major donors such as USAID, EC/ECHO, DfID and the UN
    • Have a financial analysis aptitude or some experience of Agresso financial software
    • Have some experience of IT audit
    • Proficiency in a second core language of Save the Children (French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic)

    Counter Fraud Analyst – ESA

    Counter Fraud Analyst – ESA

    The role holder will be supporting the Global Counter Fraud Manager, with a dotted reporting line to the ESA Regional Fraud Lead in delivering the four pillars of the counter fraud strategy (Awareness, Reporting, Responding, Prevention) including:

    • Support with Initial Review of reported incidents on Datix, including reporter follow-up, SOF identification and Triage.
    • Lead and participate in fraud investigations across all Triage Levels.
    • Support with case management and record updates and uploads to the case management system, Datix with specific focus on data quality and consistency of system usage across the fraud function.
    • Support case closure processes for all Triage Levels, with focus on data quality and consistency, ensuring the methodology was followed throughout the investigation lifespan.
    • Support in the planning and coordination of logistics for fraud trainings sessions conducted by the Regional Fraud lead and other members of the global fraud team (face-to-face awareness training, investigation trainings, Fraud Focal point trainings etc.)
    • A point of contact for the Fraud Focal Points at Country Offices and Regional Office   
    • In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

    The role will also be expected to provide interim cover for the ESA or any other Regional Fraud Lead during periods of absence or leave *

    In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

    Essential

    • minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a role involving fraud investigation and prevention.
    • demonstrable understanding of effective counter fraud strategies and their activities.
    • aware of current best practices in investigation techniques.
    • excellent written and spoken English demonstrable by good oral and written communication skills.
    • able to offer practical solutions to management to help resolve incidents including in crisis situations.
    • perseverance, resilience and tenacity.
    • ability to work with minimum supervision.
    • Fraud investigation qualification/accreditation from recognised body/training provider, or similarly related qualification in relevant field.

    Desired

    •  understanding of the role and approaches of the international development sector
    • previous experience of delivering training sessions / workshops

    Global Roving Investigator

    Global Roving Investigator

    Reporting directly to the Global Counter Fraud Manager, The Investigator is accountable of conducting investigations of allegations involving fraud, waste, abuse, corruption, beneficiary exploitation and abuse, and other misconduct.

    • The role holder will support SCI programs to ensure continued vigilance with regard to the risks associated with violations of SCI’s Code of Professional Conduct and Policies the law/regulations and the further development of complaints mechanisms and investigation capacity.
    • Role holder will additionally collaborate with other SCI functional areas and programs to support our partners, sub-grantees and other agencies in encouraging a work environment that minimizes the potential for fraud & misconduct
    • He/she will also collaborate with teams across the country programme, the SCI Regional Office, Global Assurance and Centre for relevant areas.

    In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

    Essential/ Desired

    • Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance, accounting, law, international relations, criminal justice or related field.
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in fraud investigation or related field
    • A recognized counter-fraud or investigation qualification (e.g. law enforcement, CFE, Bar Admission)
    • Experience in the non-profit, NGO sectors or grant-supported organizations, regional and international organizations, or the inspector general function within a large government organization a plus
    • Experience conducting fraud, collusion, corruption, vendor and supplier collusion, safeguarding and other types of investigations in challenging environments
    • Experience working with investigation teams in remote locations and insecure environments
    • Experience examining forensic, financial and electronic evidence
    • Extensive experience conducting interviews of witnesses and subjects in multicultural environment, including online interviews,
    • Computer fluency; highly competent using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ERP (Agresso) and IDEA and Speak UP/DATIX automation knowledge additionally preferred
    • Fluent in written and spoken English

    CAAC Programme Operations Officer

    The Programme Operations Officer will provide operations platform support (coordination, planning, implementation and reporting) and improvement for quality delivery and thereby contribute to Save the Children’s Protection of Children in Conflict Programmatic ambitions and the Stop the War on Children Campaign through a complex Pan-African Programme that has been growing since its inception in 2013. The CAAC Programme supports programming and advocacy initiatives targeting children in situations of armed conflict and a wide range of actors such as the African Union, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Regional Mechanisms (RMs), Treaty Bodies, Bilateral Institutions, Member States, Civil Society Organizations and Armed Actors both State and Non-State at strategic policy and decision-making level to address the complex subject of children in situations of conflict

    In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

    Essential/ Desired

    • Undergraduate in business administration with extensive working knowledge in Child Protection in Armed Conflict and Emergencies
    • 5 years or more experience in Child Protection Programming with at least 3 years Pan African/Regional Level experience.
    • Demonstrated Professional or Specialist working knowledge and experience in Child Protection and specifically Peace and Security Programming working with armed actors.
    • Solid understanding and engagement with the African Union Peace and Security Architecture.
    • Solid understanding of Armed Actors engagement and relations
    • Demonstrated experience of capacity building of armed actors.
    • Demonstrated capability to make decisions with creativity and some independent judgment
    • Demonstrated experience in influencing to obtain the cooperation of others.

    GBV Assistant (Dadaab)

    Role Purpose

    Save the Children International Kenya Country, Dadaab office has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as GBV Assistant. The role holder will be in charge of prevention and response to cases of GBV, counselling and case management in the Dadaab refugee host community and the refugee camps. The role holder will work to establish and revive the host community structures in five (5) wards under Dadaab sub-county and will establish GBV response mechanism that is responsive to the safety and protection of boys, girls, men and women and survivors of gender-based violence. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

    Nationality: Kenya National only

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential

    • Graduate degree in counseling or Psychology, with 2 years’ experience working with children is desirable or a diploma with 3 years of active experience in GBV work.
    • Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
    • Knowledge of community based child protection approaches, preferably including experience in participatory approaches and child participation methodologies.
    • Ability to use a wide range of child counseling methodologies
    • Good managerial and IT skills including the use of Word and database software.
    • Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing programme priorities and emergency priorities that may arise
    • Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
    • Positive attitude towards community work with emphasis on the ability to learn from communities and support innovative approaches to problem solving.
    • Commitment to Save the Children’s Child Protection Policy.

    Desirable

    • Ability to adapt to different cultures
    • Registered with the Kenya Counsellors and Psychologist’s  Association (KCPA)
    • Experience and skills in management of staff
    • Experience in designing and facilitating training sessions and activities for children
    • Understanding of the dynamics of the conflict within the East African region.
    • Experience of working in an insecure environment.
    • Experience in refugee setting and/ or understanding of local language would be an added advantage.
