    Business Development Officer

    Reporting to the Project Manager the Business Development Officer will play a central role in supporting innovative livelihoods initiatives to facilitate a broad based entrepreneurial mind-set and a new set of business development ideas among the Persons of Care (PoC) in Kakuma Refugee Camp. This will involve working with other project officers, partner organizations and PoC community in the camp. Key activities will involve the coordination and mainstreaming of business development activities in the refugee camp.

    Qualification and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Microfinance, Entrepreneurship, or relevant tertiary qualification in cooperative and Economic Development studies, and/or experience in related fields,
    • Experience in community policy development & advice; facilitating, coordinating, and managing project plans.
    • At least 5 years of progressive programming experience including understanding of and ability to promote empowering and developmental models in community work through highly effective communication skills.
    • Ability to assist groups to formulate their ideas into constructive actions.
    • Exercises sound judgement and political sensitivity – especially in relation to the community organization; local governments among other stakeholder.

    Administrative Assistant

    The role provides a support function of managing the front office and reception. S/he will work closely with Human Resources and Finance to provide operational support during project implementation.

    Qualifications & Experience

     

    • Diploma in Business Administration or related filed.
    • Training in Supply chain or procurement will be an added advantage.
    • Minimum 5 years work experience, 3 of which should be on a similar role.

    Agriculture Extension Assistant

    The role will support the Agriculture Extension Officer to build the capacity of AAH- I Kenya livelihood project staff by providing agricultural technical support. S/He will be responsible for following up on the agricultural extension services offered during SPARK project implementation.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Diploma in Agricultural, Agriculture Economics, Agro-Enterprise, Rural Development, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
    • Minimum 3 years work experience, preferably in a similar role.
    • Demonstrated strengths in relationship management; able to work with diverse groups of people in multicultural, team-oriented environment.

    Water and Irrigation Technician

    Duty Station:Kakuma, Kenya

    Purpose of the role:

    To play a central role in supporting SPARK Project to implement efficient and effective water and irrigation facilities within a broad based entrepreneurial mind-set and a new set of business development ideas among the PoCs in Kakuma Refugee Camp. This will involve working with other project officers, partner organizations and PoC community in the camp.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Coordination and implementation of water and irrigation activities in the refugee camp.
    • Ensure the conservation of water by dripping pipes to water gardens and farms.
    • Ensure that the drip irrigation method is running smoothly and efficiently
    • Prepare Bill of Quantities on the materials needed
    • Install the drip irrigation system in the farm or garden or wherever needed
    • Advice and plan for the proper drip irrigation systems to ensure for the water conservation
    • Do the common work such as repairing PVC pipes, valves and sprinkler heads and others
    • He or she has to do the jobs such as installation of pumps when required.
    • Support to carry out field surveys - Geospatial survey, Spate irrigation on farms and in gardens.
    • Study the area first and then design and make the drip irrigation system that will best suit the area.
    • Provide help in improving the water and soil conservation methods in the farm to the farmersTeach the farmers on the various types of drip irrigations and the various methods and procedures
    • Collect the information and related data that will help farmers irrigate their farms.
    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • Diploma/ Certificate/ Degree in Agriculture, Water or Engineering related studies
    • Minimum three years’ work experience
    • Good understanding of soils and water conservation and understanding of irrigation equipment
    • Physical ability and good health
    SKILLS & COMPETENCES
    • Excellent communicational skills (written and spoken)
    • Skilled in influencing and obtaining cooperation of individuals;

    Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant

    The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will be responsible for collection, collation; management and reporting of data on performance indicators. S/he will undertake routine field checking of the data collected by project staff and partners to ensure data quality in terms of accuracy and completeness. S/he will be responsible for ensuring that primary stakeholders are involved as much as possible in undertaking M&E related activities. Additionally, s/he will be responsible for training partners and field staff on Monitoring and evaluation.

    Qualification and Experience

     

    • University degree in Social Science or other related field
    • Minimum of 3 years working experience carrying out monitoring and evaluation
    • Working knowledge of the statistical analysis soft wares (Epi info, SPSS, STATA etc.) is desirable
    • Experience in development and implementation of M&E system
    • Proven training and facilitation skills
    • Excellent English writing and reporting skills
    • Working experience in use of M&E soft wares

    Project Accountant

    The Project Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that project accounts are managed effectively according to AAH-I Kenya and donor financial policies and procedures. The job holder works closely with the Project Manager and Country Finance Manager to prepare periodic financial reports as required.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Minimum CPA 2 qualification. Degree in Commerce or equivalent will be an added advantage.
    • Understanding of computer applications in respect to accounting, budgeting and cash control. As a minimum, this would include an understanding of MS Office & financial software
    • Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role
    • High degree of integrity and analytical skills.

    Project Manager

    Reporting to the Country Programme Manager, the Project Manager will provide leadership in the development, planning, implementation and monitoring of SPARK project activities and ensuring that the project achieves its overall goal on time with effectiveness and conformity to DFID and AAH- I Kenya policies.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications in Social Sciences, Project Management, Agriculture, Business Administration or relevant discipline with further training in management.
    • At least 7 years of progressive programming experience, 2 of which must be closely related to implementing camp management activities or community settlements.
    • Demonstrate impeccable top level negotiation and persuasive skills in programming with donors while appreciating the desired flexibility.
    • Possess proven practical knowledge of the program development cycle and design and management qualities.
    • Be skilled in influencing and obtaining cooperation of individuals.
    • Able to manage relationships to achieve results.
