    Officer – Systems Administrator

    Job Summary:

    • This role is responsible for performing software installation and configuration, systems monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting and securing systems.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Configure servers as per user requirements.  
    • Installs, configures and maintains software
    • Implements relevant software updates and patches and service packs on servers to ensure they are up to date;
    • Monitors system performance and address potential issues to ensure services are available;
    • Deploys application software releases as per deployment instructions
    • Maintains documentation for server parameters and system settings.
    • Reviews documented processes and procedures including server inventory.
    • Provides technical assistance and subject matter expertise to Authority applications developers and testers.
    • Implements security procedures to secure systems.
    • Performs backup operations and recovery.
    • Ensure conformity to ISO (9001/2015 and 27001/2013) and data security requirements.

    Academic Qualifications/ Professional Qualifications         

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or any other IT related field.

    Required Certification

    • Red Hat/Unix/Linux Certified Systems Administrator/Microsoft Certified Engineer

     

    The following certifications will be an added advantage:

    • COBIT 5
    • ITIL
    • PRINCE2
    • Web Application Servers i.e. Tomcat and JBOSS, Web Logic
    • Virtualization software training i.e. VM Ware, Citrix, Hyper-V

    Technical Skills Required      

    • Ability to install and configure Unix/Linux/ Windows installations.
    • Ability to manage systems installations including mix of Operating system, databases and applications
    • Skills in Business continuity management
    • Skills to administer Web Application Servers i.e. Tomcat and JBOSS, Web Logic
    • Ability to manage databases on RDBMS like Oracle, Postgres, MySql and MS SQL Server

    Relevant Work Experience

    • Required Have at least one (1) year working experience in Unix/ Linux/Windows operating systems in a busy environment
    • Ability to implement servers and storage virtualization.
    • Ability to plan and set-up server installations including security hardening and software patching.

    Officer – Storage Management

    Job Summary:

    • The role entails performing administration activities of KRA storage systems primarily provisioning of storage and server resources.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Carries out installation, configuration, support and maintenance of storage area networks (SAN) and associated technology.
    • Undertakes administration of SAN switches, servers and associated technologies.
    • Provisions server and storage resources as per user requirements.
    • Reviews documented processes, procedures, upgrades and problems for the SAN storage
    • Undertakes upgrading of SAN software, monitoring of performance and evaluation of trends.
    • Conducts patching of operating system software and other utilities
    • Monitors, troubleshoots and performance tuning of systems.
    • Implementing of virtualisation technology including creation Virtual machines
    • Performs Backup and Restoration of Virtual Machines/physical machines.
    • Ensure Conformity to ISO (9001:2015 and 27001:2013) and data security requirements

    Academic Qualifications/ Professional Qualifications          

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or any other IT related field.

    • Demonstrable skills in administration of SAN switches, servers and associated technologies
    • Demonstrable skills in administration of Virtualization software i.e. VMWare, Citrix, Hyper-V
    • Proven ability to install and configure Linux/ Windows installations,
    • Demonstrable ability to plan and implement installations and upgrading of Storage Area Networks (SAN) systems,
    • Demonstrable skills in performing SAN systems administration tasks such as resources provisioning, servers and storage virtualization

    Officer – Service Support

    Job Summary:

    The jobholder is responsible for carrying out 2nd Line service support activities mainly supporting hardware, software and computer systems.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Attend to service requests and incidents assigned to them within defined SLA.
    • Troubleshooting system and network problems diagnosing and solving both hardware and software faults.
    • Configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining end user equipment and accessories.
    • Setup and supports audio /visual equipment for presentations and other meetings
    • Establishes good working relationship with customers by keeping them updated on the progress made concerning their requests and in case of any escalations.
    • Installation & configuration of computer hardware operating systems and applications.
    • Maintaining and monitoring of computer networks and systems.
    • Logging the queries of end users in the incident management tool.
    • Capturing resolution details into the knowledge base system
    • Testing and evaluating new technology.
    • Replace computer parts as required

    Academic Qualifications       

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field

    Relevant Work Experience Required

    • At least one (1) year work experience  in an  ICT Unit.

    • Knowledge of desktop software and hardware installation and configuration skills
