    Medical Officers - (7) Posts

    Requirements for appointment:

    • Be a Kenyan citizen;
    • Be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.) Degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
    • Have completed 12 months internship period;
    • Registered as a Medical Practitioner by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
    • Have a Valid Practicing License;
    • Be of acceptable moral and professional standing;
    • Willing to undertake duties in any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time;
    • Certificate in computer application skills from an institution recognized in Kenya will be an added advantage

    Duties and responsibilities:

    The Medical Officer shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:

    • Attending to patients in clerking, diagnoses, management and follow- up;
    • Performing medical and surgical procedures;
    • Responding to emergencies and disasters;
    • Providing health education;
    • Maintaining medical records, health information and data;
    • Counselling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement;
    • Teaching and coaching Medical students, Medical Officer Interns, Nursing students and Interns, Clinical Officer students and interns;
    • Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Pharmacist

    Requirements for appointment

    • Be a Kenyan citizen;
    • Be a holder of a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (B. Pharm) from an institution recognized by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board;
    • Successfully completed one (1) year Internship from a recognized institution;
    • Registration certificate by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board;
    • A valid license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board; and
    • Certificate in Computer Applications skills from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.

    Duties and responsibilities

    The Pharmacist shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:

    • Screening prescriptions for legal validity, drug contraindications, drug interactions, appropriateness of dose, frequency and duration of dosing and patience convenience;
    • Preparing and dispensing medicines according to Good Dispensing Practices and counselling patients on use of medicines;
    • Participating in ward rounds;
    • Identifying medicinal gaps and challenges; maintaining a daily activity log book for recording all activities undertaken;
    • Making entries into the relevant inventory management records and registers; and
    • Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Pharmaceutical Technologist III - (5) Posts

    Requirements for appointment

    • Be a Kenyan citizen;
    • Be a holder of a Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution
    • Be Enrolled with Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).
    • Possess a valid Practicing License from Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB)
    • Must be computer literate

    Duties and responsibilities

    The Pharmaceutical Technologist shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following;

    • Dispensing Drugs and Medical Commodities;
    • Ordering Medical Commodities
    • Participate in Drugs and Therapeutic Committees
    • Advice and take part in Pharmacovigilance
    • Supervise the implementation of care and treatment plans by other medical personnel;
    • Participate in the development of procedures for the department
    • Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Radiographer III - (5) Posts

    Requirements for appointment

    • Be a Kenyan citizen;
    • Must have a diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences from an institution recognized in Kenya
    • Registered with the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority Valid Practicing License
    • Relevant working experience will be an added advantage
    • Excellent computer and communication skills

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Evaluate patients’ medical condition and history to determine most suitable radiographic technique for diagnosis
    • Interact with patients to offer them psychological support and address their concerns regarding an imaging procedure
    • Maintain proper records of patient details ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information
    • Regularly inspect diagnostic equipment to ensure they are functional and operate efficiently
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines to minimize risk of exposure to ionizing radiation

    Administrative Officer II (Center Manager)

    Requirements for appointment

    • Be an employee of Tharaka Nithi
    • Has a Degree in Business Administration, Sociology, Arts or any other relevant field
    • Has a Certificate in Computer Applications
    • Has at least 3 years’ experience

    Duties and responsibilities
    The Center Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the rescue center including;

    • Liason with the Centre Management, County Government and other partners
    • Staff Coordination
    • Program Management
    • Ensuring Safety and welfare of the girls
    • Providing regular reports
    • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor

    Social Worker III

    Requirements for appointment

    • Be an employee of Tharaka Nithi
    • Has a Diploma in Social Work
    • Has at least 3 years experience

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Psychological Support
    • Counseling to the rescued girls and the wider community
    • Help in reintegration process and ensure the girls emotional well being
    • Home visits
    • Notifying the Administration of Desperate cases
    • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor

    Cook III

    Requirements for appointment

    • Be an employee of Tharaka Nithi
    • Has KCSE Mean Grade of at least D plain certificate in food and beverage production, sales and service or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
    • Has at least 3 years experience

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Food preparation and production;
    • Setting up and directing placement of food;
    • Maintaining hygiene by ensuring cleaning of the kitchen and its surroundings;
    • Maintaining correct stock levels;
    • Ordering of foodstuffs
    • Detecting and reporting defective equipment;
    • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Providing Maternal and Support to the girls
    • Assist in daily routines and hygiene
    • Ensure the girls well being
    • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor

    • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
    • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
    • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
    • Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
    • For those with higher education certificates (degrees) from outside Kenya, a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission of University Education.
