- Be a Kenyan citizen;
- Be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.) Degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
- Have completed 12 months internship period;
- Registered as a Medical Practitioner by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
- Have a Valid Practicing License;
- Be of acceptable moral and professional standing;

Duties and responsibilities:
The Medical Officer shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:
- Attending to patients in clerking, diagnoses, management and follow- up;
- Performing medical and surgical procedures;
- Responding to emergencies and disasters;
- Providing health education;
- Maintaining medical records, health information and data;
- Counselling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement;
- Teaching and coaching Medical students, Medical Officer Interns, Nursing students and Interns, Clinical Officer students and interns;

- Be a holder of a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (B. Pharm) from an institution recognized by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board;
- Successfully completed one (1) year Internship from a recognized institution;

Duties and responsibilities
The Pharmacist shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:
- Screening prescriptions for legal validity, drug contraindications, drug interactions, appropriateness of dose, frequency and duration of dosing and patience convenience;
- Preparing and dispensing medicines according to Good Dispensing Practices and counselling patients on use of medicines;
- Participating in ward rounds;
- Identifying medicinal gaps and challenges; maintaining a daily activity log book for recording all activities undertaken;
- Making entries into the relevant inventory management records and registers; and
- Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
