    Accountant I - Tax

    Job Group 6

    Job Ref No: KPC/ADVT/05/2017

    Duration of Appointment: Permanent & Pensionable

    Key Responsibilities

    The position reports to Chief Accountant (Payables) is responsible for

    • Filing of monthly VAT and Withholding Tax Returns as per the VAT Act and Income Tax Act.
    • Filing and payment of Withholding VAT biweekly.
    • Computation of Corporation Tax, payment of instalment taxes and filing of Corporation Tax Returns as per the Income Tax Act.
    • Ensure tax compliance within the Company by keeping abreast with changes in Tax legislation and ensure implementation of the same.
    • Research & advice the Company on tax planning opportunities which will lead to lower tax burden.
    • Ensure compliance during payment processing by ensuring the correct Tax amounts are deducted and remitted. Ensure vendor master data is updated with the correct tax codes as per the act.
    • Work with the Tax consultants to come up with tax compliance guidelines for the Company.
    • Processing of vendor related payments.
    • Supervision of staff working under him/her and related responsibilities e.g. developing a committed and motivated team, staff appraisal etc.
    • Contributing to cross-functional teams.

    Key Qualifications & Experiences

    • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance.
    • Minimum six (6) years’ relevant experience.
    • CPA (K) or ACCA or recognized equivalent.
    • Membership to a relevant professional body.

    Key Competencies

    • Considerable knowledge in tax laws.
    • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
    • Attention to detail, results-driven and has good analytical skills.
    • Leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to develop and prepare relevant reports for management.
    • Self-driven, can work with minimum supervision and for long hours if necessary.

    Accountant I - Treasury

    Job Group 6

    Duration of Appointment: Permanent & Pensionable

    Overall Job Purpose: The position reports to Chief Accountant (Finance) is responsible for daily treasury function like cheque receipting, recording of EFT transactions, monitoring the company debts and ensure repayments is done as and when due, providing input in the financial reports.

    Correspondence with banks, downloading of bank statements, preparation of daily cash position and bank reconciliation reports.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Accounting for treasury activities (including bank accounts) and making recommendations to management on investment of surplus funds.
    • Ensuring preparation of daily, weekly, monthly and annual cash flow forecasts.
    • Keeping abreast with emerging accounting and regulatory issues and evaluating their financial impact on the Company.
    • Being an agent for ensuring best accounting practice to increase efficiency and effectiveness; making recommendations for improvement of the data and information processing systems and procedures and ensuring adequacy of internal controls for the same.
    • Undertaking financial analysis as and when necessary.
    • Supervision of staff working under him/her and related responsibilities e.g. developing a committed and motivated team, staff appraisal etc.
    • Contributing to cross-functional teams.

    Key Qualifications & Experiences

    • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance.

    Executive Assistant to MD

    Job Group 5

    Job Ref No: KPC/ADVT/03/2017

    Duration of Appointment: Permanent & Pensionable

    Reporting to the Managing Director, the Executive Assistant will provide efficient managerial and administrative support to the Managing Director’s Office on a day to day basis.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Schedule Management: responsible for scheduling the Managing Director’s (MD’s) and Executive Team’s engagement and meetings including agenda.
    • Office Management: responsible for overseeing the work of clerical and other administrative employees in the MD’s office, as well as making sure that everything is in place for the office to function smoothly.
    • Communication Liaison: manage the flow of information and memos received or going out of Managing Director’s Office.
    • Information Preparation: will be responsible for preparing information for internal and external distribution. This may include letters and memos, compiling data for reports, creating presentations, writing reports and speeches, and any other information/preparation required.
    • Budget Management: will be responsible for management of the MD’s departmental budget, tracking monthly expenditure, variance analysis and reporting and supporting the MD’s office in preparation of the annual departmental budgets.
    • Records Management: will be responsible for setting up and managing both electronic and paper filing systems for the Office of the MD, as well as Executive Team meetings record-keeping requirements
    • Discretion: position holder will be privy to information that must be protected, so being able to maintain utmost confidentiality and exercise discretion is essential for success in this job.

    Key Qualifications & Experiences

    • A Bachelor’s degree in a Business or related field from a recognized University/or Institution.
    • Knowledge of Applications (Windows, Ms-Word, Ms-Excel, Ms-Access and Internet) from a recognized institution or computer proficiency especially windows applications, SAP and or SCADA.
    • A Master’s degree e.g. MBA, MSc – from a reputable institution.
    • At least Seven (7) years’ working experience, three (three) of which must have been serving in a senior executive’s office.

    • Strong analytical skills.

    General Manager - Internal Audit

    Job Group 2

    Job Ref No: KPC/ADVT/01/2017

    Duration of Appointment: Three (3) Years (Renewable subject to good performance)

    Reporting to the Managing Director, the role is responsible for carrying out independent review of the internal control system and recommending ways of improvement in order to safeguard the Company’s assets from misuse, theft or misappropriation and strengthen the control environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare timely risk-based annual divisional work plan for presentation to the Board Audit Committee.
    • Monitor and report on the implementation of the Board Audit Committee approved annual work plan.
    • Provide Management with reports on audit and/or anti-corruption work on a quarterly basis.
    • Maintain a competent and professional departmental work force through training for achievement of audit objectives.
    • Coordinate external audits.
    • Prepare Board Audit Committee papers on a periodic basis and provide secretarial services when required.
    • Conduct staff training needs assessment, prepare and submit an annual divisional training plan.
    • Conduct annual performance appraisal of staff against set targets and objectives and implementing development action plans aimed at enhancing capacity and performance.
    • Coordinate the Companywide ethics, integrity and compliance programs; provide the technical assistance in the development and implementation of the corruption prevention plans.
    • Supervise senior auditors in the Division.

    Key Qualifications and Experience

    To be appointed to this role, the successful candidate must be a Kenyan citizen and have;

    • Master’s degree in a relevant field
    • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering, Social Science, Law or their equivalent from a recognized university.
    • Membership to a relevant professional body and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
    • Have CISA qualifications.
    • Minimum of twelve (12) years’ relevant experience 5 (five) of which should be at senior level in a large and busy organization.

    Key Competencies

    • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of oil industry requirements including broad knowledge of international trends in auditing and corporate governance.
    • Strong well developed written and verbal communication, intense concentration of mental and interpersonal skills including ability to conduct computerized audits/investigations and prepare relevant and quality reports.
    • Flexibility and responsiveness in handling and determining complaints, sound analytical skills and the ability to identify with precision the critical factors of a problem in an impartial and objective way.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information and to ensure absolute discretion and sensitivity to confidential matters.
    • Ability to solve complex and outstanding technical and administrative problems by generating alternative workable solutions.
    • Ability to deliver corporate articulated vision for change, create sense of urgency around change and motivate staff to join change effort.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage staff of different orientation.
