JOB GROUP ‘P’ (6 POSTS)

This is a senior position which entails professional leadership, mentoring/coaching and taking part in top level decision making of both technical and administrative nature.

Medical Specialist Job Responsibilities

• Undertaking general diagnosis, management of medical cases, treatment and rehabilitation of patients;
  Carrying out specialized clinical care, providing psycho-social interventions;
• providing clinical services to patients; training, consulting and performing
• surgeries in a health facility;
• Carrying out forensic and medico-legal services;
  coordinating disease surveillance, prevention, and control; coordinating health education and promotion;
• Guides and teaches young Medical Officers
• Providing technical support to the hospital management
  management of departmental stores including essential medicines and/or plant and equipment.
• Implementing health projects and programmes, maintaining up-to-date health information systems, monitoring provision of health treatment and care in facility.
• Undertaking health research and analyzing medical reports,
  coordinating preparation of annual work plans and ensuring they are adhered to
• Undertaking clinical and administrative duties and
  coordinating capacity building and deployment of medical personnel.

Qualifications For Medical Specialist Job

• Served in the grade of Senior Medical Officer for at least three (3) years;
• Masters degree of Medicine (M.MED.) in any specified Medical area (e.g. Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, etc as indicated earlier) or its equivalent degree from a recognized university or institution in Kenya;
• Certificate of Registration as  a Medical Specialist;
• Valid practicing license from Medical Practioner and Dentist Board;
• Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution
