Quality Lead at Jumo World

Description of the Role

Jumo is seeking a passionate, experienced Quality Lead to provide leadership on product quality for a highly talented product development organization as they solve a challenging set of problems to bring financial inclusion to under-served consumers throughout Africa. With more than 150M consumers having access to Jumo’s services and the prospect of 10x growth in front of it, Jumo needs a seasoned Quality Lead for a team of 50+ incredibly talented software engineers, product managers and operations engineers. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to help build a high volume, highly reliable platform while demonstrating leadership in a fast growing, dynamic organization

Key Responsibilities

• Drive quality as a mindset throughout the entire product development lifecycle
• Define quality standards, testing practices, tools, metrics and environments
• Collaborate and influence peers and management across product management, engineering and channel management teams
• Be a thought leader able to make bold changes, generate new ideas and able to make good ROI decisions in support of Jumo’s business strategy
• Attract, develop and lead great talent
• Be a servant leader acting in the best interests of Jumo and the team
• Represent quality in cross-organizational forums regarding technical, product and incident topics.
• Work with teams in an Agile development environment
• Make Jumo a destination for world class engineering talent

Skills and Competencies

• 6+ years of experience in software development with 3 years in a leadership position
• 5+ years in an Agile development environment
• Experience working in Amazon Web Service environments (EC2, Elastic Beanstalk) is highly desirable
• Understanding of basic financial concepts is desirable
• Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical discipline
• Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to lead cross organizational initiatives in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment. Must be able to lead through uncertainty
• Strong knowledge of testing tools, techniques and appropriate metrics
• Strong ability to push quality as a mindset on all participants in the product development process
• Ability to adapt to changing business priorities and to thrive under pressure
• Hands on experience with enterprise class software running significant transactional volumes
• Strong communication skills
