Accountant (PA-K GRADE 6) | ACCT/007/2022 at Ministry of Education, Science and Technology

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:

1. Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Management (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting or Finance option) or other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution
2. Proficiency in computer applications; and
3. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution

Responsibilities:

This will be the entry and training grade for this cadre, an Accountant will be deployed in the Finance & Accounts Department to assist in;

1. Preparing payment vouchers
2. Processing imprests, claims and travel advances for staff
3. Cash collections and banking, balancing and reconciling cash books on daily basis
4. Verifying posting of payments and receipts in the cashbook for accuracy
5. Ensuring safe custody of payment vouchers and approved journal
6. Preparing and updating creditor, debtors and general ledgers
7. Ensuring statutory deductions are remitted on time
8. Generation for approvals and facilitating prompt delivery of sales invoices;
9. Preparing Monthly Bank Accounts Reconciliations
10. Responding to suppliers queries on payments status in liaison with user departments and Supply Chain Department
11. Preparation and maintenance of accurate prepayments, accruals and provision schedules
12. Reconciliation of all employee cost ledger account
