    Assistant Accountant – Treasury

    Job Purpose:

    Reporting to the Supervisor Treasury, the ideal candidate will be responsible for processing of customer refunds and staff claims, updating of vendor bank accounts, raising receipts for customer payments and preparation of bank reconciliations whilst ensuring adherence to agreed SLAs and internal controls.

    Principle Accountabilities;

    1. Process customer refunds on a timely basis ensuring accuracy and observing the control requirement.
    2. Process staff payments on a timely basis in compliance with agreed payments cycle and ensuring validity of requests before processing.
    3. Prompt resolution of queries from internal and external customers.
    4. Perform payment runs in CitiDirect and other company banking platforms to ensure timely vendor payments.
    5. Set up Vendor bank account details in Oracle Financials in compliance with the controls set and ensuring perfection of documentation prior to the set up.
    6. Execute the funding processes and cash management processes by sending out letters/communication to banks on transfer of funds as and when required with liaison with Outstation Accountants.
    7. Prepare bank reconciliations and resolving reconciling items within set timelines.
    8. Generate receipts for all collections to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.

    Knowledge, Skills and experience;

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or any other business-related field from a recognized institution.
    2. Must possess accounting qualification i.e. CPA Section III or equivalent.
    3. Minimum of 1 year practical experience in Finance in a busy Organization.
    4. Exposure to use of accounting systems.
    5. Proficiency in MS Excel/Spreadsheet.
    6. Excellent communications, analytical and interpersonal skills.
    7. Ability to handle pressure and difficult situations with resilience, calmly and effectively.
    8. Must be a person of unquestionable integrity.
