    Child Protection Specialist on Trafficking and Migration -P3-P4/NOC-NOD Rapid Response

    How can you make a difference?

    As part of UNICEF’s Core Commitment for Children in Humanitarian Action, the Country Office is expected to provide leadership and support GBV coordination structures and address violence against children, including GBV, from a programming perspective. To fulfill this function, the UNICEF Child Protection Specialist on Violence against Children, will provide technical assistance to UNICEF on prevention of and response to violence, including GBV in emergencies, to strengthen programming and coordination efforts in affected areas. 

    Key activities & duties

    • Work with the child protection section and other UNICEF sectors to ensure violence prevention and response, with specific attention to GBV, is adequately addressed across sectors and humanitarian interventions to implement risk mitigation measures to better protect women and children.  
    • Advise on any violence-related issues, especially GBV, that require immediate action and advocacy, provide technical support UNICEF programming strategy, advocacy and policy documents to address violence against children, especially GBV (e.g. ensuring distribution of supplies such as dignity kits). 
    • Facilitate the inclusion of the issue of violence against children/ GBV, into humanitarian appeal processes and documents.  
    • As needed, conduct assessments and/or consolidate existing information on the situation of violence against women and children, including GBV. 
    • Provide technical assistance on program design to ensure that there are multi-sectoral integrated programmes to address violence against women and children, including GBV, for emergency affected areas.    
    • Work in close collaboration with key partners to strengthen programming for adolescent girls (e.g. adolescent specific, age and sex-separated areas in Child Friendly Spaces). 
    • Develop new or adapt existing training materials to the local context and implement trainings as needed.  
    • Create linkages between violence against children, GBV and CP working groups to promote comprehensive care for both children and adults survivors. 

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

    Education-

    • Advanced university degree in social sciences, including social work or child psychology, or other relevant field. 

    Work Experience- 

    • A minimum of 5-8 years of professional experience with the UN and/or international and national NGO. 
    • Good understanding and knowledge of child protection, with a particular focus on violence against children, including GBV, and experience working in emergency settings.
