    Deputy Executive Director Operations

    Key Responsibilities

    • Represent the Executive Director (ED) in meetings or other functions as assigned by the ED.
    • Oversee and coordinate the conservation programmes across all ecosystems including the day-to-day operations of these programmes
    • Spearhead the development and implementation of new conservation programmes and activities towards achieving a five-year strategic plan
    • Identify new implementation partners to co-implement the new conservation programmes and activities
    • Engage with all relevant local government and local communities around the projects to ensure they are bought into the programmes in their vicinities and to ensure their support
    • Assist the Fundraising & PR Manager with providing information on project implementation progress for the submission of reports to donors
    • Provide support to the organization during Charity events
    • Provide feedback and engage with the Fundraising Manager on opportunities to enhance visibility and reputation
    • Where required, make public talks and presentations to raise the profile of the mountain forests, other threatened habitats and their wildlife

    Qualifications

    • Hold a minimum qualification of Masters in environmental science or business administration or equivalent from a recognized university
    • Proven track record in general management and administrative skills, with broad knowledge of budget planning/implementation and accounting procedures
    • Proven and demonstrable track record running large scale projects preferably in Kenya and related to conservation
    • Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization and across all functions of the Kenya government, the donor fraternity, global conservation bodies and communities living adjacent to forest ecosystems
    • Experience in conservation is an added advantage
    • Excellent negotiation skills with capacity to engage with the Government, the private sector, and regional and international organizations
    • Self-driven, innovative, dynamic and capable of working under pressure with minimum supervision
